As I finished turning a corner on a city street all of a sudden I hear what sounded like a air line burst. The noise continued for about five seconds and since I was in the vehicle by myself I could not look to see what all the noise was until I pulled over to the side of the road in a safe spot. When I got to the back end of the coach I discovered safety glass all over the place. I'm still not sure what happened to cause the shower door to shatter since I'm sure I locked it prior to taking the rig on the road. The shower has a quarter round sliding door and it appears the lock may have worked itself open and when I went around the corner it rolled open so fast that it shattered when it hit the bumper on the end of the rails.
I was a little surprised that it was glass, I thought it was a PVC or other type of impact resistant material. The big question now is where can I get a replacement and how much are they going to soak (no pun intended) me for it. The rig is an 07 Monaco LaPalma 38PLT (UFO).

Take the door off and go to any Glass Shop...they can cut a piece of glass...BUT it is likely tempered safety glass and may have to be ordered.

Its a quarter round hunk of glass (not flat) I don't know that they would have access to tempered glass (with holes for handle and lock) that is curved. Would they ?

Probably will have to find the mfgr of the shower stall in order to obtain the curved glass. I would hope that Monaco could help in that regard.

cctv, I had the exact same thing happen, sounded like a bunch of ice cubes hit the floor, I thought the refrigerator had fallen over. Mine was a 1/4 round door too, and I too was surprised that it was glass. Went into a million pieces. Anyway, if you look around on the shower you'll find a name of a company, sorry I can't remember the name and I don't have that motorhome anymore. Anyway, if you call them they'll send you a new door............for a price. Mine happened a couple of years ago, and it seems the price was around $100.00 or so, I don't recall for sure. When you install the new one, it will take a little time to adjust the rollers to get it to work properly. Ater I intalled the new one, I didn't trust the lock so used a bungie cord to make she it wuldn't slide open again by accident.

Possibly you can take the frame to a plexaglass business & have one of any color made. I'm sure it would cost much less . Good luck.

I just got word from Monaco that the part only comes as a two piece (the movable and non movable glass sections) set and the price is $749 plus shipping. Thats a bit more that I was expecting. I am going to try and find out who made the door and contact them. I did consider plexaglass but I think it would hurt the resale value of the rig.

Just mu humble opinion, but I doubt that a door that is visually identical would have any impact on value. As a matter of fact, plastic is a much safer material, that's why they make the cockpit windows of fighter jets out of the stuff.

CCTV, like I said in the above post, look and see the make of the shower, and call them. They'll give you the name of the company that makes the door. You can buy just the door, comes complete with the metal frame and glass. You won't have to buy the other piece of glass, like Monaco is telling you.

Granted, plastic can be strong and safe but in order to make it strong you need it to be thicker than 1/8 or even 1/4 inch. When you get the thicker stuff I'm not sure how I would shape it to fit into the quarter round door frame. Any suggestions on how to do that would be appreciated.
