I use to work Asphalt and Cement years ago, and the two were almost the same price per yard.
I haven't done any of them in years now, so I'm not sure of the differance in price now. But myself, I wouldn't go with either Black Top or Crushed Rock.
Even if the Cement is more expensive, you just can't beat Cement. Our Stick Built Covered RV Port, that matches our House is all Cement. No regreats what so ever.
Both of our Driveways are Black Top. Yep, our Covereed RV Port has its on Driveway. As said, over the years they do reuqire maintance, and re-sealing every few years to keep them from cracking and crumbling.
Our RV Port Pad has been in for almost 35 years. And not so much as a chip in it, let alone any cracks.
Cement is the best way to go. Do it right the first time and be done with it for life.
Thanks for all the input! It doesn't sound like heat generated from the asphalt on a hot summer day is a problem. I think I'll choose asphalt and lift and cover the tires to help protect them from the heat anyway.

I'm from Northern MN (about 150 miles north of you) and the big concern is the "road" base. Most of the post you're getting are from warm weather states. All three options will work for you, just remember we get some good frost heaves around here. For me cement is cheaper then asphalt due to what they have to do to prep the site.
Take a drive north on I35 and you'll see for yourself. Some spots are cement and others are asphalt. It's all because of the natural road base they find will dictate what is cheaper in the long run.I'm thinking in your area asphalt is the right way to go.
live in south florida and park the camper next to carport.had extreme problems with sugar sand...in trying to stick with low budget went with crushed ie.recycled asphalt 8 yards only 200 bucks. and its nearly 12 inches deep...works wonders. starts out loosely packed but has it ages gets harder
do you do any of your own maintenance
if your going to crawl around or slide around under the rv on your back , knees, side , butt, you want flat and smooth surface, concrete or asphalt
Options, always have options, and the journey goes much smoother ....

I was thing the same thing as Mr Wizard about doing maintenance. No fun on crushed anything.
One thing to remember, and this depends on where you live and the property tax codes. Concrete is permanent and will increase the property tax and asphalt is often considered temporary and might not increase the property tax. Crushed limestone or gravel with not affect property value at all.
