Sounds like the cable has a kink and creating a bind. As for where the indicator is connected and why it's on the actuator now (it can be changed to the toad), there's a reason which escapes me at the moment.

I wonder if its because they no longer wanted to have another wire going between the toad and MH, which would be required for the indicator to truly show the toad brake switch/pedal. That is, unless you use the wireless device they have for this, but its kinda pricey ($230 IIRC).

I have a ReadyBrake also, and I use a rather 'unique' way of having an indicator of the toad's brake pedal, instead of just the ReadyBrake actuator:

Our toad already had a trailer hitch and 4 pin trailer wiring set up/installed before we set it up for 4 down towing. Sooo, I took a pair of magnetic tow lights, plugged them into that 4 pin trailer light connector at the back, routed the wire up to the top, and put the two magnetic lights at the front (top) of the car, facing FORWARD. I know it sounds crazy facing those lights forward, but this way, whenever the brake pedal is pushed, the magnetic lights turn on, and I can see them in the MH's rearview monitor.

The magnetic lights do NOT come on when MH brake engages, since tailight wiring was done with diodes, which do not send power to the trailer brake wire on the toad. But, pushing the pedal does turn them on.

I've thought about wiring up an indicator light on the MH dashboard that will show when the toad's brake pedal is pushed, and do away with the magnetic light approach. However, I really do not want to run (yet another) wire between the toad and the MH. Like the wireless device ReadyBrake has, but I'm too cheap to spend over $200 for this.

I LIKE IT!!

I too, use the toads trailer connector to power the LED that I ran to the dash. I ALSO use magnetic lights on the toad that are connected to the motorhomes' brake light connector, so I have redundacy and lots of lights.

Im actually still thinking about going that way - use the LED dash light that came with it (ReadyBrake), but wire it to the toad's trailer connector.

What did you use to connect the wires for that LED, to the toad?

Between the safety cables, readystop breakaway cable, readybrake cable, and electric cable for lube pump and lights, there's already sooo many connections, not sure if I want to deal with yet one more or not.

I hope I can explain this without it seeming too confusing.
I use a six-wire, EZ-Coil like this one, but I only paid $40 or so, not the Roadmaster version. clicky

My RV had a standard RV connector already in place, so I made a pigtail that plugs into the stock rv connector to the EX Coil female connector with the turn signals (which are also the brake lights) and tail light to the six wire EZ-Coil connector. That's four wires. I used the remaining two wires in the EZ-coil to carry the two LED wires from the toad to the dash-bypassing the RV connector. This way, the RV connector remains stock. If I need to tow a trailer or whatever, I unplug the connector to the EZ-coil connector and plug in the trailer.

Ah. Yeah, if I could have done that and had all wiring in on EZ coil connector, I would have.

I use one of those six wire EZ-Coils also, but the other two wires in it are for the Remco Lube pump. I'd have to run a 2nd pair of wires somehow, in addition to the EZ coil.

Hmm...Does anyone make an 8 wire EZ-coil?
