This thread has been beat to death on another forum. Let's drop this thread before we have RVer's bashing each other about parking at WalMart.

He broke the three primary rules of WalMart boondocking. Get permission, dusk to dawn and keep you stay as short as possible. Plus he broke another RV rule - Plan your drive and drive your plan. Driving a 70' rig you need to be sure of that where you are going can support it. Just assuming you can drop off 70' of coach and trailor at the local WalMart for a couple of hours without first confirming not only store policy but also local laws will allow wasn't good planning.

Wal-Mart parking is SUPPOSED to be a courtesy...letting us RVers park OVERNITE...when there is no local statute preventing it.

I've parked OVERNITE at Wal-Mart from time to time over the years, pulled in, paid a (what I call) a "courtesy call" on the store manager to make sure all was well....never had a problem. Only once did I see an RVer with the awning out, indicating he thought the lot was a campground. Seeing this, I parked on the other side of the store. Left early the next morning...he was still there. Some folks think nothing of abusing a nice thing.

It isn't worth $1.2 mil anymore it is a 2000 coach. You can probably buy that for only a couple hundred thou. at the most. They depreciate like the rest of ours. It probably doesn't even have a slide.

While "I pity da fool" for the inconvenience, here is an example of people expecting something for nothing. This fellow made an assumption that he could use Walmart's parking lot as he pleased. He did not contact store management and explain the situation to them and get their permission, he just figured that because the signs did not specifically state RV's then it was ok.

Assume nothing, expect not special consideration, take nothing for granted, be prepared, and if there is any doubt ask someone. He brought this situation on himself.

Sounds like someone wanted a free camping/parking spot for a holiday weekend. I bet if he had opened the safe it would have cost him less than 200 bucks to get a spot in a local camground. He gambled and lost--this time. I do support overnighting at Walmart's, Cracker Barrel, etc but you are supposed to ask if you can

1.2 million for an rv and he is cheaping on getting a place to stay overnight.
with that kind of money he can afford the tow bill.
all kidding aside. I have and still do stay in walmart or other parking lots, but before doing so I meet with the store manager and find out if it is ok and if there are any prohibitions against parking overnite in parking lots. Many towns have laws against this.
