Just got a new TV with a little over 300 miles on it, dealer to dealer trade. It's a Durmax/Allison combo and I was wondering how many miles I should put on it before towing my boat? I looked in the manual and didn't see anything yet. Just thought I would ask here.

Start towing the boat now. The Duramax/Allison will handle it with no problem even if its new. Your TV is made for towing from the getgo.
I have a Duramax/Allison also and it worked well towing from the beginning.

I believe for the Dmax there is a 800-1k km break in before they suggest you tow anything, it should be in the manual...

Manual says do not exceed 55 mph and do not tow a trailer for first 500 miles.

Every new truck I've owned say there is NO overall break in but they do recommend 500 miles on the differential to allow the gears to seat, before towing. Should be in your owners manual if you got one. If not find out what Chevy recommends from the dealer.

x2. that was what my 04 duramax diesel manual recomended.
Unless things have changed, all the duramax engines are run on a dyno before being installed in the truck. Don't know for how long. I suspect the cummmins and ford diesels are also run before installation.

It has more to do with the differential break in period than the engine/tx. Some people read, others speculate. Unfortunately procreation comes without reading otherwise Mother Nature would be able to weed out the bad genes over a couple generations.

The online 2011 F-150 OWNERS GUIDE states on Page 5:
BREAKING-IN YOUR VEHICLE
Your vehicle does not need an extensive break-in. Try not to drive continuously at the same speed for the first 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of
new vehicle operation. Vary your speed frequently in order to give the moving parts a chance to break in.
Drive your new vehicle at least 1,000 miles (1,600 km) before towing a trailer. For more detailed information about towing a trailer, refer to Trailer towing in the Tires, Wheels and Loading chapter.

With the Cummins it's "why do I have to wait to tow???? I don't care about those silly gears. Ok now hook me up to a huge trailer so I can go to work" Cummins are ready to tow out of the box!
