Anyone ever come up with a good way to attach a 17' AL canoe to a TT?

If possible, put it on top of the TV. I wouldn't put it on top of the TT because of the added clearance required, not to mention the labor getting it up there.
This is one reason we bought a pop-up, so the canoe can ride on the trailer without any problems.

What are you towing with? Yakima and Thule make racks for SUV's and pickups.

I picked up 2 pairs of Outdoorsman racks and bars off Craigslist for my F-150:

I was going to make something similar out of 2X4's but got these instead.

If I had short box pickup and wanted to carry canoe or kayak, I'd probably implement:

Note: I'm sure many local welders can create a 1 x 2" (or much stronger 2 x 2") front receiver support system (under TV's front bumper), and create its attached front T-Bar system as well. Very easy task - for a professional welder.

Hi All.
many years ago, we did it the easy way. We gave our Boat & Motor to our son. Bought a "Sea Eagle Inflatable". No problems any more, plus its easy to set up, take down and stores very easily.
It goes every where we go. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

I used to carry a canoe on our old 16' travel trailer. Since I wasn't concerned with appearance or resale, I fastened 4 angle brackets to the roof, then used stainless electrical conduit to build a roof rack that attached to those angle brackets. It looked similar to a Yakima or Thule roof rack. The canoe rode up there nicely. However!! I highly recommend carrying the canoe on your tow vehicle. More than once I broke vent caps, scraped along the roof or nearly killed myself getting that canoe up and down from there.

16 foot canoe.
