Well thanks again....I was told by the dealer when I purchased the truck that we had a 5000 lb towing capacity...I'm feeling mighty dumb now cause I just went and looked at the inside of my door and the gvwr is 6700. The truck itself weighs 5000. Dodge only provided a DVD and a mini manual with the truck. I was able to find out that at 3800 a weight distribution hitch is required. Aside from that, I am new at this and I would rather have the peace of mind and be safe even if it's overkill; I'm going to add it. Now, any recommendations for a good one? Someone suggested a equalizer...any thoughts or suggestions?

the Equalizer is a brand of WDH with built-in sway control and very popular. made in the U.S. and can be bought for around $430 with free shipping from RVW.
the 600/6000 one should work for your Starcraft.

I had a 650 pounds WDH for my Dodge Ram SLT with a 5.7 hemi and my Palomino Stampede S-238. The system wasn't strong enough........I just replaced it with a Camco 48053 RV 1000 pounds Eaz Lift Bent Bar Weight Distributing Hitch with Adjustable Ball Mount and Shank.
COST: $196.00 at Amazon. ($200.00 below retail)
It doesn't have the sway control, but I never feel the need of having one.

Just in case you want to know...........I just received my Camco 48053 RV 1000 pounds Eaz Lift Bent Bar Weight Distributing Hitch with Adjustable Ball Mount and Shank, and this is solid construction. It includes everything except the ball which I will buy at a RV dealer..........and at $196.00 on Amazon, this is what I call a good deal.

that's a basic WDH that requires a separate friction anti-sway bar, that has to be unhooked when backing up.

I used an anti-sway bar when I owned a popup, and never saw the need since we own an HTT.

i have to respectfully disagree. if you need a WDH, then you need sway control.
if you had a 1 ton to tow with, then you shouldn't need a WDH for something as light as a hybrid. but you still should have sway control.
a basic WDH doesn't do anything for sway control.

a popup isn't affected by crosswinds and passing semis, like a full height TT/HTT will be, because it's low profile. therefore anti-sway is needed much more on a HTT/TT.

Never had a sway control on my Travelstar, and still don't see the need on my Palomino.
That's my opinion Dan, and I'm sticking to it.

Still like you,
