I just bought a Starcraft AR-One 18FB. Does anyone else have one? Anyone have any tips? Do you like it? I won't get mine for 5 more days, but I'm curious what folks think that have been out in one already. I know the 15 and 14 are getting positive comments, but I can't find anything on the 18.

Hey! Give it a chance....the Starcraft AR-One 18FB is a brand new for 2012 model! Just recently put on sale...so you're not likley to see many of them around yet.
But the entire AR-One series are selling quite well...Starcraft had to "move home" for a while during the recent RV sales slump...literaly the entire StarCraft operation moved into the Parent Company Jayco's Factory in Middlebury Indiana and were made there for a few years, and the models they has were virtual clones of the Jayco's...built on the same assembly line.
But recently StarCraft sales are so good that they resumed production at their own Topeka Indiana Factory again. And the StarCraft AR-One's are among the first 100% StarCraft made RV's...designed and build right there at StarCrafts Factory.
You're gonna love it!

I didn't know that about the factories. Thanks for info. The 18fb really can't be beat as far as weight and amenities. Can't wait to get it and get out there! Mt dealer said I wouldn't need a weight distributiob set up but rather suggested and is adding friction sway assembly. Any thoughts on that? is it sufficient enough?

What are you towing with?
Personally, I would use weight distribution with any full height trailer. I use a Equalizer brand and love it. The built in sway control makes everything nice and stable. Weight distribution also eliminates much of the bounce on bumps.

I have a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab Hemi....unfortunately it's an ST and has the low rear wheel differential which limits my towing to a max of 5000 lbs.

read your owner's manual and don't believe the dealer(one of the 2 top newbie mistakes, along with going by "dry" weights).
your truck's manual should specify at what tongue/trailer weight you're required to use a WDH.
definitely get an anti-sway bar.

Well thanks again....I was told by the dealer when I purchased the truck that we had a 5000 lb towing capacity...I'm feeling mighty dumb now cause I just went and looked at the inside of my door and the gvwr is 6700. The truck itself weighs 5000. Dodge only provided a DVD and a mini manual with the truck. I was able to find out that at 3800 a weight distribution hitch is required. Aside from that, I am new at this and I would rather have the peace of mind and be safe even if it's overkill; I'm going to add it. Now, any recommendations for a good one? Someone suggested a equalizer...any thoughts or suggestions?
