Don't know about TX but many states have lower speed limits for vehicles that are towing. Usually 5-10 miles lower than the posted interstate spped limit. A couple as low as 55. It is important to know the speed rating of your tires or you may put yourself in the position of having a blowout at high sppeed and serious damage even without an accident. When I tow I don't get in a rush and my DW likes it that way. 70 is fast enough for her.

blah, blah, blah... There is no place that I need to be that going faster than a mile a minute is going to make it a better place to be...
Just pass me on the left and we'll both be happy campers..

We don't drive the RV at 80 even except the occassion we let it sneak up on us. Endless miles of straight road and little traffic makes it hard to even keep awake at 55 or even 70 sometimes.
I remember crossing Montana at triple digits except for small crossroads, hardly, towns.
At 90 the little car is just put putting along. Feels like 40 maybe. To try and cross parts of Texas at 60 or 65 would put you to sleep or highway hypnosis, I think it is called, just like parts of Canada.
We went to Arizona when the speed limit was the magic 55.
We had to change Drivers and stop every little bit, even if there was nothing there.

And you'll look in your mirror and the one vehicle that ONLY drives in the far left lane all the time will be the one with the Minnesota license plate. I swear some of these idiots don't think there is another lane. Several years ago our Gov. wanted to designate the right lane as the driving lane and the left lane as the passing lane as it should be. It was rejected..I can only imagine the bedlam we would have here with an 85mph limit...

Since my Honda manual tells me not to tow it faster than 65mph, I guess I'll avoid those highways, too. I've always loved TX and I understand that a lot of their revenue comes from fossil fuels but, to me, it's just not sensible to drive 85mh. Or necessary.

FYI. Most all, Trailer tires are only rated to 65 mph. It's just the way things are. You can put higher speed rated tires on the trailer, But they won't be trailer tires, and will not be designed to slide in a sharp turn, as trailer "ST" tires do without damage.

Sure we would drive that. I wouldn't find a reason not too.
