We upgraded our little Skyline 28 foot to a Landmark Rushmore 39 foot this week , however it needs to get parked on the street which is steep.

Any ideas to help with the wheel chocks?

I have the giant rubber one's now , but thinking of a wheel lock also.

Please chime in on this , I dont want a 12k 5th wheel running down the street one day.

Are you going to be unhitched on the street? That would scare me too on a steep graded street.

I think chock blocks are more effective than between the tire chocks. In fact, I have little use for any between the tire chock as far as a roll-away is concerned. So I would first make sure I had blocks behind all 4 tires. And if it was going to sit there for a while, I would make up some chock blocks where the tire rested on a plywood sheet under the tire attached to a block behind the tire. Those can't slip out or be kicked out.

Parking un-hitched on the street is illegal in many places. Check your local ordinances!

What kind of grade you talking about here? Big grade in earthquake country don't sound like a good mix.

We like the large rubber chocks. The x type wheel locks will become lose when when the tire cools and the diameter decreases.

, good idea on the wood, I have 4 giant chocks for the tires , and was since its short term i was gonna pull the breakaway cable also.

Might just leave the rig hooked up to it.

A set of Rotochoks and almost any block will work great. I have used the rotochoks ever since we purchased our 5er and have chocked on some steep grades temporally. They are very solid. The chocks under the wheels are for backup safety.

DO NOT pull the breakaway cable!! You will discharge battery fairly quickly and possibly burn out the brake magnets! That device is to be used only to stop trailer in case of truck/trailer disconnect while moving. Plus the braking effect will not occur as the wheel needs to be rotating for brake shoes to engage.
