Why buy just the topper, when for a few dollars more you can get the whole mattress ? Look at these folks www.rvfoammattress.com Quaility mattresses at a reasonable price. I have two in the TC and their residential mattress at home.(I think that the residential are available at Target.com) Free shipping on UPS Ground and a nice guarantee. Good luck with your search.

Agree with above input and the direction we went.
A little more investment, but feels just like our home tempurpedic matteress.
If you are going to spend a lot of nights in the camper, well worth the upgrade.

We too bought the 4 inch topper from Wally world. It actually has 2 inches of foam and 2 inches of memory foam. Had to trim it off, but with advise from here used an electric knife. Wow, did that work great. Went through it like a hot knife through butter. We now sleep better than we do at the S&B bed.

Whoever decide to put the mattress in our TT should be made to sleep on it the rest of their lives. It's nothing more than springs and a thin covering and squishes down to nothing if you sit on it.
We looked at foam toppers but instead used a brand new Beautyrest queen that we had in a guest room. The width is fine but I need to extend the platform a few inches for the length.

We put it in yesterday and while it was heck to get it in there I think it will be more than worth the effort.

x2, we bought the 5.5" matress and put a 3" topper and matress cover that we already had on it and its great. If you have a bouncy spring type matress then I doubt a topper will work because there won't be enoigh support under it. The matress from rvfoammatress.com is really firm and when you put the 3" topper on and then mattress cover it's like a 3 stage foam mattress. We had the sringy/bouncy type mattress in our TT when we bought it, used it a couple times and tossed it.

After a year (fulltime) with toppers I gave up because they retain heat. The best thing to do (imho) is go get a regular queen mattress from a regular store, let it hang over the couple inches and don't waste your money on a Band-Aide solution.

Everything went real well over the weekend. I was uncomfortable sleeping. I have the stock shortened queen sizew mattress. No box spring, just a thin mattress.
Any suggestions where I can purchase a better quality mattress?
For my TT, we bought a much nicer normal house queen mattress for our stick home. We then took our house older queen and replaced our "short" RV queen. Thus, getting a 5" longer mattress and much thicker mattress in our TT as well. Less walking room between our mattress bottom and bedroom wall (since normal queen is 5" longer) but, it worked for us…
Might work for you as well….

For us the topper may have been good enough but we know the beautyrest will be heaven to sleep on. Having the mattress and not needing to spend the $100 on a topper was a plus too.

I am glad that most campers are happy with the foam toppers,it makes a big difference to the camping experience. But,I have an allergy to foam rubber so if I tried to sleep on a topper it would feel like sleeping on a HOT grill, but that is just me. Ed
