Welcome to the club, we've all had some bad experiences that we learn from. I've never hit anything or had my cabinets come open, but on a rough, unimproved road once I tore the door off my fridge and scattered everything all over the TT. Quite a mess. Oddly enough my cabinet doors stayed closed and the frig wasn't damaged. So I was able to go to the nearest town and get parts to jury rig the door for the rest of the trip.

One trick I use -- plastic tubs of varying sizes with lids. This keeps silverware fron scratching glasses, plates well secured, etc. The little tubs are great for small medicine bottles so liquid ones won't soil a drawer. Virtually everything I have goes into a plastic container. Cereals I dump into a plastic storage box (which allow me to pitch the boxes saving weight and trash mass on a trip, as well as help keep it fresh longer.)

I also use ZipLoc bags for the bottle of dish soap and other items. This way, I can toss them into the sink and they are not going to make a mess. Same with shampoo bottles and other items.

An added bonus is that the containers may not be not rodent-proof, but the critters will have to fight to get at anything.

Only have had that problem with the fridge once and a cupboard once… both times I think they were just not closed good…

On one trailer I did have a sliding drawer that would open pretty often… I mounted a magnet behind it and that solved the problem with it…

I do this too, put things in plastic containers with locking lids. And I don't use glass dishes at all. Only once did we have a problem with the fridge door opening. For no good reason that we could determine! We were on good interstate crossing Arizona. Stopped for lunch at a rest area. Entered the trailer and Lo! there was spaghetti sauce and plastic utensils all over the place. What a mess. We spent about an hour cleaning that up. I learned from that to A) put dry things in locking plastic containers B) put liquids in Ziploc freezer bags and C) put velcro on the fridge and freezer doors!

wow that sounds rough. hope it goes better for you.

that is why I love my hard to open cabinets. I really have to pull. I easily leave things in there with no problems. never had a cabinet open...so far

I don't understand how the fridges come open on the road. I read many posts where people say it happens. Every camper fridge I have ever owned locked closed. Some with slide latches, and the last couple, like the one I have now, just push it hard and it clicks and locks.

Same thing I was just wondering myself. We've had problems with a drawer that opens towards the front of the camper. It was mainly when we had heavy dishes in it. We replaced the dished with cheap plastic ones from Walmart. We also had to get the drawer slides replaced on the drawer. Haven't had trouble since, but I have noticed that the last couple of times we went to our camper in Ocean Lakes that the drawer was open when we arrived. So we are going to have to look at it again. But we haven't had issues with other drawers or doors.
