Sharp is another one of those companies we have to contend with that have no interest whatsoever is helping their consumers. I often wonder if they have any idea who is keeping them in business. Guess most of their products are supposed to be throw-away and they couldn't care less about helping to repair used ones.
If I remember right Sharp did at least have a parts list for the R1870, but by the time I found that I had already ordered the damper motor and switch from encompassparts.com/models/Shar1870 using their parts list. After thinking about it for a while as I was trying to find a repairman I decided to order the turntable motor and have it replaced at the same time thus costing only the price of the TT motor, and I ordered it from amiparts.com. Encompass did have the TT motor but I didn't recognize it on their parts list. Should have ordered all three pieces at the same time and would have saved a little shipping charges.
On mine the damper motor # was RMOTDA256WRZZ (Sharp lists it as RMOTDA217WREO), the switch was QSW-MA085WREO, the TT motor was RMOTDA211WREO. Don't be surprised if you find different part numbers. The lady at Encompass said she was finding 8 (I think that was the number) different part numbers for the exact same part. Every time they got a shipment in the number would change. Kind of like what Freightliner and Alliance is doing to us with their fuel/water filter numbers and micron numbers.
Good luck. It can get very frustrating.
Partstore.com is another source for these parts but they seemed to be a little higher on their prices.

@wagonmaster... I'm curious why you wanted to also replace the turntable motor.
Where you having problems with it too?

Nothing is either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.

No problem with the TT motor, but with my luck I figured since the damper motor conked out the TT motor would go the first time I'd go to use it after all the work getting the oven re-installed in the coach. The TT motor wasn't all that expensive and no extra labor to install the new one. Might have been an unnecessary expense but both motors look very similar if not exact so just thought if one went south the other would too, especially since the TT motor gets lots of useage.

How are things going with your parts hunt? Hope you are finding everything you need and have someone to install the parts for you. I understand if you're really careful the parts can be replaced yourself but there are some really really hot spots in the oven you don't want to touch.
Good luck.

Wagonmaster2 I got the oven out and it is at a Sharp authorized dealer. Just waiting now for pricing and then reinstall. It looks like this is a common occurances but no one has said if they know the cause.

As others have stated, this is a common problem for Sharp micro/convection ovens.

Got the call from the repair depot and the micro will be ready tomorrow. They had to change the switch and the motor. They say they have no idea what causes this problem so do not know what to avoid. Parts and labour came to $109. Now I have to struggle to get it back in place.

Sounds like you got a decent price for the repair. Glad to hear they didn't try to hold you up. Now you just need a real hefty neighbor who can help you lift that monster up into place and hold it while the fasteners are attached.

I also was able to remove my Sharp and took it to a repair shop. Once repaired I found it easiest to find a medium sized box to fit over my gas stove. The box height was enough to almost reach rear mounting bracket on the wall. I was able to tilt the microwave, while resting most of the weight on the box, and seat the mounting brackets together. From there is was easy to lift and get the diagonal screws in by finger to hold it up. Hint.....put your screws & screw driver within reach. On my first attempt one of the screws rolled away and I had to let the micrwave down to retrieve it. An extra set of hands would have been helpful.
Good luck!!

the saga has ended. Made up my mind to put that sucker back in today. 2 1/2 hrs, 1 skinned knuckle and 44 swear words and it is in. Word of advice: be sure the threaded end of the long angled screws are in their grooves before lifting mico wave into place. I didn't and had to take back down as one could not find the holes to screw into. Tried it and it works but afraid to leave it plugged in case of a reoccurance.
