come on now... who in the right mind would try to tow 27K combined with a hemi...let alone with a 2500 Cummins?

Ha....there are boneheads that do it! Guy with a 2500RAM 4x4 pulls a 39' brookstone no airbags. " It tows just fine " !!!!!!!!

For 27,000lbs, I'll prefer a Ford V10, preferably an F-450. But yeah, I'd use a Ram 3500 with the Hemi for that weight.

I don't pay TOO much attention to GCWR but 7k over Dodge gasser rating is a bit much for me. At 27k it wouldn't last long in the west anyway.

I've owned and towed with both the Cummins and Hemi. I believe all male humans should own at least one Cummins powered Ram. If you're towing high altitudes, you might actually need it. Either way, I don't think you'll regret it. When you get over it, there will be plenty of silky smooth, whisper quiet gas engine pickups to choose from.

Hannibal, since you are here praising the gassers, I posted this so you will see my the pic of my truck and miss your old Cummins....

It is. You will have to order it through the dealer's fleet buyer, but you can get a Hemi in a dually.

800ft/lb at 1800,isn't that how you spell tow.I got a manual, get the auto. The Asnsin(sp) "Orion" is a good tranny. And those big 11 1/2 rear ends.

The spelling is Aisin and it is only available in the cab and chassis trucks. The 6 sp auto is a Chrysler transmission 68RFE and it has been proven to be very durable. Tha peak HO engine torque is at 1,600rpm and the peak hp is at 3,013 rpm.

FYI I spoke to the guys at Randy's Ring and Pinion they said that the American Axle will last much longer with a larger diff cover and the larger volume of gear lube. They said to look at the diff covers there are a lot of them with the paint coming off because of excessive heat.
