I was loading a bunch of stuff into the bed of my truck and noticed a slight bend in the front bar that my fifth wheel hitch mounts onto. It's the horizontal bar closest to the cab of the truck and it is almost not noticeable but it's definitely there.
This is a Reese fifth wheel hitch and mount set up. The above the bed rails version. The bent bows slightly up in the middle of the bar.
Has anyone had this happen before? Any idea what would cause this? I have several trips under my belt with the set up with no problems. I am going to call the company that I got the set up from tomorrow but do you think Reese will cover this?
I've heard of this from my local dealer. They say it was very common before Reese added the center bolt to the rail. Does yours have it? In previous years the manufacturer would only want a bolt un the center of the rear rail to prevent it from bending in a panic stop. With the 5ers getting bigger and bigger...they added the front bolt.

2X Just add that center bolt and you are good to go. When I picked up my new hitch after Camping World put it on I asked them why there wasn't a center bolt put in. they said it was optional so I told them I wanted that option and they went back and did it.
