Trying to find campsite (Pickup F250 & TT - 30')in Grand Teton, for Jul 7 - Jul 10, but everything seemes booked. Can anyone recommend alternatives, possible locations for boondocking & who to contact if boondocking is possible.
Try Gros Ventre (pronounced Grow Vaunt) about 20 miles south of Moose, WY. off the main road (191), but part of GTNP. They don't take reservations and don't have hookups, but there's 350 camping spots. Water available and a dump station. Here's a link.
I'd get there early in the morning. With July 4th on a Wednesday, you probably couldn't pick a worse time to find a non-reserved site in the YNP/GTNP area. Everybody will be on vacation.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.
2X on Gros Ventre See some photo in album 2010-09-11 on the link below my signature.
There is also a nice boondocking place on the mountain side of the road near the river near the turn off for Gros Ventre. I do not have the exact location but a few years ago there was a posting with photos on the boondocking forum. Do a search in bondocking. If Gros Ventre is full they may be able to tell you where or give Gros Ventre a call
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.
