Still thinking hard about switching to a Fiver.
Would like to get a Super Duty as the TV.
8ft beds are thin on the ground here in the Maritimes, so I may have to go for 6and3/4 bed.
Would like to avoid a 'slider hitch'
Anyone recommend a Make/Model 5er that can go near 90 degree turn on a fixed hitch?

Our PU bed is 5 1/2 foot. We bought the slider hitch and have NEVER had to use it! LOL You could get a King Pin box extender or a slider hitch on the 2nd hand market if money is the issue. Our 5er is an Alpenlite.

I have a Reese hitch with a Dutchmen Classic 300 and am able to get to just about 90 without kissing the back glass.

All the Heartland 5 ers have the 88 degree nose cap, if I'm not mistaken.

A lot of the newer 5ers have contoured front caps that allow a greater turn radius. Look for those that have recessed lower front corners.

Do yourself a favour and get a slider hitch. While the new 5vr fronts are being reshaped to minimize hitting the truck cab, there is still that chance of it happening. There is another plus to having a slider that few mention. The kingpin pivot point on the hitch in "tow" position is slightly ahead to the centreline of the rear axle of the tow vehicle. This makes it a bit more difficult to back up. If you set the slider to "manoeuvre" before you back up, you position the kingpin pivot point about a foot behind the rear axle centreline. This allows the 5vr to turn quicker when you are backing up. I use it every time I back up.

Better to have a slider hitch and never have to use it then NOT to have one and then need it.
King pin box extenders are not recommended by a lot of manufacturers, it can change the stress points on the front end of the 5er....I'd check with manufacturer of the 5er before going this route. With a short pick up bed, I'd want to be safe and purchase a hitch that would keep me from hitting the back of my cab....been there , done that......learned the hard way....passing on a life learned experience.

Also, there is often very little difference between a slide and non-slide. E.g. Reese 15K. Pretty cheap insurance, really. I have one and have never used it, as well. But you never know....
BTW, Keystone has several of the newer models with "Max Turn."

If I'm not mistaken, the length dimension for the Short Bed Superduty trucks is 6'6", not 6'9", so it's a 6-1/2' bed, not a 6-3/4' bed....
