Yeah prices in the stores seem to be higher (When I worked retail our online prices were always cheaper cause of less overhead).

I have bought one item from camping world online and my issue wasnt the price, it was that it took almost 4 weeks to have it sent to me. I think I would have rather drove down to Indy to buy the darn thing if Id have known that.

CW as a rule is higher regarding pricing of their goods. CW usually has what I need in stock when I need it. Best for me is to do comparative shopping if I have the time.

To be fair though for those speaking of CW letting you touch, see, and return items, the OP was about pricing.

I've returned lots of stuff to Amazon too... But anyway, my .02

4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

You can shop 10 RV websites and see varying prices from one to another. Some are cheaper, but charge shipping. CW's prices are often in line with others and their prices can beat others when that item is on sale. Amazon is a HUGE company and is hard to compare to CW who has to provide a store front. How many times have you needed that item the day before or day of a trip....Amazon can't provide it, but you can stop by a CW store on the way out of town and pick it up.

I also like to see/touch some items I'm going to buy and I'm willing to pay a few dollars more to do that. CW also offers some products, like electric skillets, that are RV sized and hard to find elsewhere.

My only complaint is that they don't offer more in the way of parts at their parts counter, such as common circuit boards, refer parts, and other items that fail on the most common appliances.

Sales tax is not a fair comparison. CW is required by LAW to charge because they have physical presence in that state. Internet companies don't by law unless they are based out of or have a physical store in your state. Not fair competition. The OP should do his homework before he rattles off such broad accusations. And maybe the "Internet Competion" would like to pony up some cost for the operation of this forum? I don't think so. You can't have both worlds. So make your choice and quit whining.

I am looking at prices on a Honda 2000i Generator - so far CW Kissimmee is the highest price .

Comparison is shipping (if any) , sales tax (if any) , and base price .

I would like to spend money locally and at CW , but I need to save $ where I can .

Amazon.com has also changed a lot in recent times. What you buy on Amazon may or may not be shipped by Amazon but by one of the many many small privately owned stores that are affiliated with Amazon. You may also find, as I did, that something may ship out by UPS or Fed-x, and then get transferred to the USPS for delivery to your house. Once it is transferred to the USPS, all tracking was lost and the delivery is sometimes delayed by days. Just saying that the Amazon of today is not like the original Amazon of years ago.

Bottom line is that everyone does the comparison shopping - I'm setting up my 09 Saturn for 4 down towing for the times when we need more space (like taking grandkids along). Needed an extra set of car side connections for Roadmaster tow bar to make it easy to take either the Malibu or the Saturn.

Priced the same Roadmaster part at PPL and at CW on-line (PPL generally has the best price on most stuff I check) but in this case CW was not only cheaper (by more than $10) but because I am a Good Sam member, I got free shipping which saved another $7.99 over PPL.

As others have said, sometimes I just like to walk through the "camping toy store" and touch and feel something before I buy. So in those cases it is nice to have a Camping World near by.

I have had my local CW meet their own on-line price if I show them the flyer.

Regarding CW pricing, my biggest peeve is what they charge at their rally booths. Those prices are usually outrageous. I don't even go through their booth at major rallies because I do not trust their pricing and will wait for a stick and brick store.
