Bring your cash or good credit, buy the model they recommend at their fantastic price, don't ask any questions and don't bring it back except for non warranty big $ shop labor. Accept everything that is wrong with it as "just the way it is".
They did you a huge favor by just letting you purchase one. Why would you expect more.

When we decided on our travel trailer, we contacted the local dealer (100 miles) via phone, after we had visited the dealership. Salesman was terrible, rude and refused to deal. Refused to transfer me to the manager. Manager never returned my call. I emailed Skyline, they contacted me within the day, talked to me about the situation, had the regional manager get in touch with me, again within the hour. He wanted to know what we wanted, if we were willing to travel, what deal we needed. Hooked us up with a great dealer, Holiday Travel Trailers in Albuquerque, NM. That deal and sale went easily and smoothly. I think that it truly depends on the manufacturer, delaer, etc.

The world has changed and many of us prefer to gather information from Internet and email contacts. Smart companies understand that.

We once bought a new Toyota Highlander via internet and maybe a few phone calls...easiest car purchase ever. Highly satisfactory transaction and never laid eyes on a salesman. This happened after we went in person to another dealer checkbook in hand but the entire staff was so unprofessional that we left after wasting two hours. (Long story.)

The online dealer made it easy to buy.

I worked ten years ago for a Caribbean resort and a small part of my job was to answer inquiry emails. I enjoyed talking to those folks and helping them gather info before purchasing a $5000 - $10,000 vacation. We couldn't believe how many people would tell the general manager after they arrived that those answers clinched their decision to buy. They said no one else ever answered their inquiries.

Some companies expand their marketing skills to appeal to different buyer styles while others lose business.

Interesting read, so far. I wonder how many of us really have a grip on how fast this whole situation is evolving, and how the latest crop of freshly minted adults think? I have two of our spawn currently in universities.

They communicate as follows:

Phone calls: A truely bothersome waste of time. You are not required to answer one. It's perfectly OK to never set your voice mailbox up, as voicemail has no relevance to your existence. A land line, BTW is an a quaint way for dinosaurs to chat, but you will never have one, and can't imagine anybody else under eighty years old needing one, either.

Fax: Seriously? That's right up there with the printing press and disco. You many of heard your doctor talking about "Faxing" something, but you really are not quite sure what it is, or if you have to go to Western Union or the bank to do it?

E-mail: You have to do this to communicate with professors and a few other loathsome tasks, but it's old school, and a pain in the rear, best avoided where possible.

Texting: NOW we are at the middle of the action. If you have less than a few thousand texts a month on your bill, you are obviously an outlier, or hopeless. It's fast, doesn't require actual human interaction, and it's cheap.

Facebook: If you don't spend a few hours a day on it, your out of the loop, and might just as well be middle aged and Amish.

Now contrast this to RV dealers that can't even be bothered to answer an email, and you can get a pretty clear indication as to who is going to be in business a decade from now. The future demands instant communication, in whatever format is trendy at the moment. The buyers in this future will kick you to the curb instantly, if you do not play the game by their rules, and at their speed.

My kids make it plainly obvious that I am a dinosaur, and in some ways they are right. But, I even have to chuckle at some of the attitude here. In someways it seems to be the "HEY YOU ROTTEN LITTLE @#^%& GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!" crowd, defending dealers who are as out of touch.

I am by no means newly minted, but I find this whole situation odd. Car dealers have no problem dealing via e-mail, and frankly, once you contact one you never get rid of him. I've bought the past couple cars via e-mail from traditional dealers. This after I got sick of schlepping to dealers and dealing with lying salesman. Car guys answer one e-mail with four e-mails plus a follow-up. I guess the RV business must be booming if they can afford to ignore potential customers.

I have a whole lot of experience with dealerships, and let's just say there is a lot of high fiving and congratulations flying whenever an obvious jerk is taken to the cleaners. Go in to a dealership with a chip on your shoulder and an attitude that you are better than they are, you can expect them to give their absolute best effort to screw you to the wall. And guess what, they are better at selling than you are at buying so they will win.

Sadly agree with you. The vast majority of RV owners are elderly and are totally trusting to a fault - downright gullible. Makes for a nice profit for the dealers.
