I see that the Camping World store in Mission closed. I'm just wondering WHY? They were always busy and especially so when the snowbirds were in the valley. The "nearest" stores are now in Houston or New Braunfels, Tx.! I hope that they find another location in the valley for another store. Having that many potential customers in the same area every year and leaving the area seems shortsighted to me. Yes, I'm whining because I shopped there every year and bought all my supplies from them and didn't have to pay shipping charges.

I think you might get a better response by asking your question in the "Dear Marcus - Camping World Accessories" group.

Camping World web site now shows New Braunfels at 246 miles as the closest location to where I am in the RGV. If they don't reopen for the winter season the local rv parts stores and repair facilities are really going to be happy.

I believe you may find that the complete redesign of the ajacent intersection with expressway 83 limiting access to them could be one reason for the change. We go there every year also, but will not really miss their terribly high prices...... When you can buy cheaper on the internet even after paying shipping there is something wrong with their pricing margins...... Just talked with a friend this weekend that had CW change the fuel filter on his Onan Gen. They charged him $400. Really hosed him. The filter is about a 10 minute change from right under the genny.... What are they thinking? That campers don't talk to each other??

Now that's something I hadn't thought about. They were very close to the overpass, maybe the state bought the property to facilitate the widening of the new bridge. To bad for us Snowbirds though, they were very close to our park.

I think the little shop east of CW is alot better place to shop anyway. Georges price was lots better. I think it is called Goodwins or something like that.
Also Ron Hoover has a nice place over toward Alamo or Mercedes. His prices are about like CW's

They were busy during the fall and winter when the Winter Texans were here but very slow during the summer months.

How funny, we drove by there two weeks ago and I thought it was closed for summer hours since all the snowbirds were gone.
Doesn't matter, they never had anything I wanted, they always said, "we don't carry that but you can order it". The last time they told me that I went down the street to Goodings and Camping World was buying something from them.
Too expensive, sorry to see the store close though. I got lots of good ideas and enjoyed meeting snowbirds there.
Another good place that carries a good stock and does great service is Texas RV Supply on Austin Hwy in San Antonio. They have done repairs and installs for us over the years. Never a complaint.
