Or less trailer. Friends of ours have a 1/2 truck and are very happy with the way it pulls their 2012 Coachmen Freedom Express. They have the 29' bunkhouse that weighs in around 5300 lbs dry weight.

You might consider a trailer that is a bit shorter thus not being so heavy. A 33 footer is pretty long for a tt.

His problem is weight for his TV, not length. He has 144" wheelbase, same as every extended cab 6.5' bed 3/4+ ton truck. 6500 pounds dry RV is lot of for the most capable half tons. He does not have the most capable half ton.

My honest opinion is that if you were staying in S/E Texas on the flat land not over 5500 lbs dry weight and watch the tounge weight. If you plan on going to the hill country, get a bigger truck or smaller TT.

I have a 33' springdale with a 6.0liter c/k 3500 w/ 4:10 gears dry weight of my trailer 7195 loaded around 8500lbs +/- 150lbs. The frame handles the weight fine but the engine is taxed on hills even in tow/haul mode. flate highway it's just right, but I wish I could afford a diesel or 8.1 litre or v10. I just use the truck to haul the camper which it does. 6.0l gasser is minimum or I hear good things about f150 eco boost. jmho and 2 cents good luck

What do you guys think about a 30' with 5700# dry wt.?
Thanks for all your comments.

I have the same size trailer with the same truck. Just 1000 lbs lighter loaded. It does fine, but extra power would be nice. On the big hills I slow down. It is 10 times better than my old TBI 454, so I can't really complain.
To the OP are you looking at light weight stuff?
I still think 5700 dry is pushing it. My truck is rated at 10,000 but I wanted at least a 2000 lbs cushion.
Towing at the limit of the truck is no fun.

What he said. My 4Runner had a bit more power than what you have and it struggled with a 3800# dry (5000# loaded) trailer. It was great on the flat, but struggled in the hills. I've replaced the 4Runner.

Once loaded, I don't think you'd be happy with the combination. There are sooooo many TT's out there that you should be able to find a good match. What floorplan are you looking for?
