My wife and I are planning to drive the Lewis and Clark Trail from St. Louis, MO. to the Pacific Coast in a few weeks. We have a map provided by the Park Service and a copy of the L&C journal to follow. We have no reservations anywhere. We're pulling a 35' 5th Wheel but we prefer organized campgrounds/RV Parks to boon docking; unless the area is a "must see". Any recommendations for RV Parks, places not to miss, public golf courses (hoping to sneak in a round or 2) and perhaps good local places to eat along the way? Your response is appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like a great adventure. The LEWISton, id AND CLARKston, wa area would make for a great base camp to explore from since the towns are named after Lewis and Clark. One of my favorite areas to visit.
Granite Lake RV Resort in Clarkston is pretty nice. On the river, driving range next door, paved river trail, walk to Costco, golf course is less than 3 miles away.

Be sure to go to the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center in Casper WY. It is an excellent multi-media center that explains how the Lewis and Clark Expedition became the basis for the westward expansion on the Oregon and Mormon Trails and the California Gold Rush. There are smaller centers in other locations such as the Lewis and Clark Discovery Center in Hells Gate Park, Lewiston ID. The Native American version of the story is also told at the Nez Perce National Historic Park in Lewiston.

LOL. Thank you for gracefully pointing out my spelling error. I realized the error too when on another website. I even used a spell checker before I submitted the post. Guess it didn't recognized the difference. Ha Ha. I'll research this site with the proper spelling. In the meantime, keep the recommendations coming. Thanks.

Their trail goes through Lolo Pass and Lolo Hot Springs - there's somewhat of an RV park, primitive but has electricity and water - across the highway/street. Well worth a stopover and then drive your TV up to the Lolo Pass Visitor's center.
Another great stop would be in Montana at the Headwaters of the Missouri State Park - mapped by Lewis and Clark. Just down the road is a campground, but don't remember if it had hookups or not. At the time of our visit we were staying at Baker's Hole CG in West Yellowstone, MT and drove up for the day.
Also, North of Ennis are the Lewis and Clark Caverns and there is a big campground there. All along the route are historical markers of Lewis and Clarks travels through there. On a quiet day you can just imagine them there. It's amazing.
