Half of all marriages end in divorce and the other half end in death. I'm not worried about diesel fumes

Tex,
I did a quick search using diesel exhaust/ cancer and found numerous US based studies. Unfortunately, these studies also contained numbers and these numbers were compiled by socialist organizations like the NIH.

It's probably safe to say, that the constant inhaling of the exhaust of any combustible material, could be a cause of cancer. Everything in moderation.

Hope this doesn't mean we won't get those nice cars from Germany, that get 50 to 75 mpg !!

I'm fairly sure that huffing anything other than plain ol' air will cause cancer. Um... and, in some places, air is suspect, too!

Anything can cause cancer and there's always someone that'll try to prove it.

In the early 80's a British group that wanted very much to do away with the primitive diesels used in the London buses did an extensive health study of the people that worked in the bus garages for the public transport. Some of these people had been breathing diesel smoke for 40 years, and they couldn't pin anything on the diesel dust. They inadvertently proved that smoking tobacco and drinking too much aren't good for you, but that washed over anything they could pin on diesel exhaust.

This was nice for me to read. I was a ship's engineer by trade for very many years. When I would could home, DW would have me leave my seabag outside until she could bring it in and wash it so the whole house wouldn't end up smelling of the combination diesel fuel and exhaust. I have probably spilled more diesel fuel than most of you will ever burn. Other than being over weight and having high cholesterol, I'm not doing too badly for my age.

When did this become NEW news. This has been said for a number of years. It is the tiny soot particals that go deep into the lungs. With asbestos, if you could see the particals, they weren't the bad ones. It was what you couldn't see. BTW, I retired after 30 years in Local 84 of the Asbestos Workers Union.

Don't forget, the carbon dioxide gas we exhale when breathing is also considered a dangerous substance which some want to regulate!
