We perc out camping. We prepare the night before. I look at the clock when I turn on the stove and in 15 minutes it starts to perc. Turn the flame down and in five minutes we have coffee. Pour it into a thermos and we have great coffee throughout the morning. No generator noise needed, or wanted.

Love using our old corning ware 9 cup while camping. Looking at getting an electric version for use at home. Coffee tastes much better.

DW is getting a French Press for her birthday and we'll see how well it does.It would seem that if it works as well as we've been told then we'll either take it with us or just get one for the mh.Get up in the AM,put a pot of water on the fire and when it's hot use the press.
IMHO people who start their gennies early in the AM are the same as the persons who start up their PSD's or Cummins with the 5" exhausts and run them for twenty minutes and then shut them down till the next morning.

I'm another for the percolator. My perc was good enough for Grandma and Grandpa (it belonged to them) and it's good enough for me. I make the pot of coffee the night before, and have it in the thermos overnight, and have hot yummy coffee in the morning with no waiting. Since it is boiling hot when it goes in, it's just right in the morning. And if I want to get cooking right away, I have all burners available without having coffee pot on one.

I don't think I'll even consider having an electric coffee pot in the camper. Just not very often I'll be at an electric site.

We have a electric drip for when we have shore power but if you think I'm going to fire up the champ to run that thing and wake up the other half at the crack of dawn...no way in...

Actually I prefer my old Melita cone filter coffee maker. I put the large pot on and while the water heats, the stove takes the chill off the trailer. Once the water is hot there is enough to make the coffee, warm the dogs food and even soak my teeth.

Y'know, when I'm camping I really just don't CARE what the neighbors do.
If they need their generator to fix breakfast, I don't care.
If they like to listen to the morning news, I don't care.
If they want to start a campfire to cook breakfast, I don't care.
If they use an electric coffeemaker, or a french press, or make cowboy coffee, I don't care.
I don't go camping to force my likes or dislikes on others. They live their lives, I live mine.
I expect the same courtesy from them.

One coffee drinker, one tea drinker and two hot chocolate drinkers in our RV. We boil the kettle on the stove inside or the old (Thank you granny) Coleman stove outside. A french press for the coffee (this year we are adding a hand grinder to Mobi), a fresh thermos pot of tea and two hot chocolates are ready in no time.

But I do not begrudge those who need to use a genny in the morning, I make a bit of noise pumping up that old Coleman stove.

Have both a Krupps drip with a thermal carafe (no heating element under it) and a percolator pot.

When hooked up the drip is in play on a timer so it's ready when I get up. When boondocking I've gotten in the habit of heating the water in the perc' pot and pouring it through the drip machine. It makes better, grounds free coffee and the thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot without burning it.

When we got the motorhome we graduated to a brand new shiny percolator. With the tent and popup I used the old speckled metal camp percolator. Even with the popup the coffee pot went on the fire in the morning and I would sit in front of it comatose until it was done. I really liked getting up early and kicking the coals up and having that quiet time.

It SUCKED in the rain. If it rained I made it inside the popup. After tent camping all my life the popup was a thrill to stay out of the rain. I would still cook food in the rain, but coffee... I could drink it while I was still dry. lol.

If you do the coffee right it doesn't scorch or get grounds in it, but you need a decent pot and patience.

for me a stove and areopress make the perfect cup of coffee. better than any fancy machine and no mess with the grounds. I fill the tepot before bed, grounds in the areopress on top of the coffee cup. First thing up, turn on the stove and in a few minutes a perfect cup of coffee.

equally good is an old fashioned stovetop vacuum coffee pot like a bodum santos that makes 6 cups.
