I have a 2009 Rockwood Premiere pop up camper with a Carefree of Colorado awning. The bag the the awning rolls up into is literally falling apart. Our 2003 pop up that I traded in for this one's bag looked new. I called a local upholstery shop and they said they could make me a new bag but most people just buy the bag and have them sew it on. I did a google search but can't seem to find anything. Any suggestions of finding one of these awning bags?
Thanks, Joe

I am in same boat... I dont even know how to size the bags... They come in multiple of one-foot lengths. My POPUP is a 12-foot box. Nothing you measure comes out exactly 12-foot or 11-foot etc...
My awning is in perfect condition on my 2008 POPUP. Only the bag is ripping apart.
I would just like to replace the bag only as well if I could find the right size. I found the carefree dometic series part number OK but it doesnt tell you the length.
Watching this post closly...

I didn't think Carefree sold just the bags. Here's the parts diagram and it shows canopy only and rail, but no bag. I would price your local upholstery shop and have them make it if it's reasonable. No shipping, and no waiting for it to arrive and then take it to them would be an added benefit. I've never replaced the bag, but I had a place that makes canvas boat covers repair it and they were very reasonable.

It's the same with Dometic/A&E.

Bear Creek Canvas will make you a new bag in the $50 range. Look them up on line and take a peek. Their bags also have the zipper on the inboard side of the bag so that it is out of the elements and will last longer.

benfrench - I sent Bear Creek an email and they wanted me to call them which I haven't done yet... Have you used a bag from them... I am curious how they sent you a bag as it has to be sewed to your existing canopy material and eventually attached to the groove on the top of the trailer.
I'm guessing they will send you a bag to fit your size of awning which I haven't figured out on how to measure mine yet and then you have to sew all of this together yourself or take to a upholstery place?

Yes, you would need to take it somewhere to have the new bag sewn on. Attaching it to (and removing it from) the camper is no big deal, usually one or two screws holding it in place then slide it out of the track on either end.

LARSON6 - Do you know if the new BEAR CREEK bag comes with the sewed in rope section that holds it place on the side of the trailer. This is what is coming unraveled on my awning bag. All of the inside bag items are in good shape. Actually my bag is in good shape as well just coming un-sewed but having checked in with a couple of upholstery shops I find they want about the same price for re-sewing/repairing the bag as a new one would cost.
Do you know how to measure the bag and tell if it is 11-foot, 12-foot, or 13-foot bag. Nothing I measure comes out even.

As I'm sitting under our awning in the pouring rain right now talking about replacing the awning bag I did a google search and this thread popped up.. I forgot I posted the question but thanks for all the info. The local shop wants $200 to make a new bag and sew it on. I like the sound of the $50 bag though. I definitely want a stainless D ring for the strap that holds the awning in place. anyone have one of the fifty dollar bags? I'll guess it isn't any worse than the one I have. It was falling apart a year after it was made.

To measure, just stretch a tape across the awning at the bar at the end. I'm pretty sure mines 11' but I have measured it yet.
