Our driveway is way to steep for us to get our class A into. Right now we have it parked on our neighbors property, but the house is up for sale and we will need a place to store it full time. The storage places around us are like $150 a MONTH!! I think thats insane for that. Does anyone have any ideas that may help us? And what do others pay to store there MH's??
Thanks!

Find ANOTHER neighbor that may be interested in a few dollars a month to help with their mortgage and negotiate a deal.

The irony of buying a moho for me was the best storage area was on a property under lease for a couple years. I poured a concrete pad and Im in the finishing stages of building a shelter. I opted not to pour another driveway since that requires a "right of way" permit. Just used the existing curbing and sidewalk with a paver trail to access. Legal and no expensive survey/permits/inspections needed.

Covered at $45 a month with Electric.
A friend stored their MH in an uncovered lot for $35 and just settled an insurance claim for Hail damage on their roof and everything on top for $11,000.00
The deductible that I would have paid, plus the hassle pays for the covered storage.

There's a small local fire department that allows RV storage on their field for less than $50 per month, might want to check around your area...

Don't know where your at in NYS, but our local county fair will store your rig inside all winter long for $10 a foot, so your total bill would be $350 for the whole winter season. You have to be creative and not just look for storage facilities. Lots of manufacturing companies are in a slump right now and looking for extra cash. If their insurance allows, they might provide you storage space.

I don't know about your geographic situation, but for people who live in or close to San Francisco RV storage is also hugely expensive. So what I know people do is store their RV over closer to the Sierra foothills. It's over 100 miles away, but it works out because it's where they come to camp most of the time anyway. So they actually save on gas money in having to bring the RV that far to camp, plus they pay a whole lot less for storage. If you have a favorite direction that you usually go in when camping, maybe you can find someplace in that direction that's cheaper.

So, you are going into the storage business. You buy land, build a road into it, prepare the surface, and build a fence with a gate. You pay taxes on the land, taxes on the rent, and liability insurance on the property. You pay someone to rent the spaces and manage the property, you advertise to get business, you pay someone to do the accounting, and try to figure out how to collect your rent every month. A number of people will never pay and just move out when you press them.
After you have done all that, people will tell you they need cover over their unit, cameras to give them more security, a dump station and water to fill the rig. If anybody falls down on the property, the unit is damaged, or Heaven forbid something is stolen...they want to sue you.
Paying $150 in a metro area with high land costs might be a bargain. Obviously the entire economics change in a rural area in the middle of nowhere but of course few people need storage in those areas.

Find somebody with some land near you. Leave them a note on their mailbox. As them if they'd be interested in $50 or so a month if you could just park your RV on their land. There would probably be a lot of takers so long as they would be free of all liability.
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.
