We are full time and pull a 2011 Ford Escape without problem. However, it is too small and we'd like to pull a pickup truck with something less than 40k miles. A standard trans is ok. Recommendations and expereince please with year, make and model. Thanks
Nearly any 4X4 pickup with a NEUTRAL position in the transfer case, your choice of make, model, and year.
I say "nearly any" because there are ALWAYS exceptions.
4X2 pickups are often not towable four down, regardless of transmission, unless a driveshaft disconnect is installed.
Never believe that "All manual transmission vehicles can be towed four down!" It just isn't true!
When in doubt, read the Owners Manual. It will often have a section on "recreational towing".
Good luck in your search.

We tow a 2008 Chevy Colorado 4x4 four door pickup. Love it. Easy to set up to tow.
Button on the dash puts the transfer case in neutral. No battery problem. Miles do not register when towed.

Ditto to the above. Another thing we like about towing our 4WD 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche is that it does not have a steering lock (has a transmission lock instead). After following a simple procedure, you leave the transmission in park, take out the key and lock the truck taking the key with you.
