I was just wondering if and how many of you Class B owners also pull a small Travel Trailer with you. If so did it work out ok.

Around here, most state CG's only allow 1 "camping unit" per site. Could be a problem for you.

I have not tried towing with my B but it has a Class 4 hitch and a significant towing capacity - though I would limit a trailer to a very small trailer. I know that others have towed boats with no problem. I recently saw a new teardrop trailer that would make for a nice extra, private bedroom for two guests traveling in a B with seating for 4.

As to only allowing one RV per site, you would have to take two sites. Some campgrounds also do not allow a tent in addition to an RV in a site - and require that you pay for two sites.

I know of folks who tow an Airstream trailer with an Airstream B-190.

We regularly tow a single axle enclosed aluminum utility trailer (to take a motorcycle and/or canoe along with us) and have done so since we bought our "B" three years ago.

The additional "storage" we also quite like.

If you equip your "B" correctly, and are careful about weights on each axle and wheel, then it works fine.

My only "complaint" is the lighting backing into a campsite after dark. But, I'm fixin' that problem with some strategically placed Hella fog lights. It'll be noon at midnight 'fore long.

Cheers.

I pull an enclosed utility trailer when I use the B for antique radio shows and swap meets. We have an open utility trailer with bolted down storage boxes and canoe and kayak racks we pull for camping in the mountains. The loaded utility trailer cuts the gas mileage and top speed on long hills. My B only has a 302 V8. I wish it was larger when pulling a trailer.

My Horizon also has a 302CID V-8 and I tow my BAJA behing and it weighs anywhere from 2100# to 2400# depending on what I an carrying.
13 MPG bewteen FL and GA. Starts, stops and drives great. One must know the vehicles limitations when in heavy traffic.

Just be careful of Good Sam ERS which does not consider cargo trailers vehicles. Allstate RV Roadhelp does.

Be sure to read the fine print that goes with the advertised maximum towing capacity. I know RT used to advertise a towing number, but when you read the fine print, it was with nothing extra in the B, no options, just the driver and IIRC minimal fuel & empty water & waste tanks. That may or may not have changed since around '02 or so.

Jim, "Be careful reading the fine print. There's no way you're going to like it."
