Looking for suggestions on the best route when leaving Yellowstone and up to Columbia Fall, MT or Glacier Nat park. Thanks,

Don't know if it is the best, but we took US-287N from West Yellowstone to MT-359N to I-90W to US-93N to MT-35N to MT206N to US-2E to West Glacier.

Safe travels!

TT, thank you. I will take a look at that on my maps. We are driving a 40" DP with a toad...about 56".

From West Yellowstone, we took US-191 to I-90 to US-93 to US-2 to West Glacier.

Which part of the drive are you concerned about? To I90 or from there on? How did (or will) drive to Yellowstone? Was that a good route for your purposes? In other words, some context would make giving advise easier.

@Paulj, thanks for the link. My concern is that I've never been in that part of the country and did not want to get on a road that I would regret. We have been in central Montana and Dakotas but that is the most westerly we've been in a motorhome. I also noticed you're from Seattle. Since we're on the subject, we are going to be in West Glacier for the 4th of July and then heading to Seattle on July 5th and arrive on July 6th for a Disney Cruise with our family. We would like to know what the safest best route is to Seattle from Columbia Falls/West Glacier. Thank you for any advice.

I don't think there is much difference in safety. US2 to Spokane is an easy route to describe. But it's not hard to find a shorter route to I90, hitting roughly between Missoula and Idaho. From Spokane I90 is probably the best way to Seattle. US2 and WA20 are more scenic, but you don't have a lot of time to sightseeing. Plus I90 puts you right into town, just a bit south of downtown. I don't know where your cruise is leaving from, or where RV parking is.

But as for Glacier, you could head to the east side (I15, US89/US2) and take US2 from east to west. Or you could head west a bit and go directly to Kalispell and the west side. You could even go as far west as Missoula before heading north.

I see from these directions that the way to the Pier 91 rv parking uses the Mercer St exit from I5 regardless of where you are coming from (I5 southbound, northbound or I90). You might want to ask a specific question about getting to the terminal in Seattle. I can picture the area, but haven't driven an RV around there.

IMHO trailertraveler the best nailed the best route to I-90. You might want to checkout the threat west Yellowstone by Boatingben on this forum. There are several replies including one from me. The route from west Glacier, I have driven US-2 and pulled MT-200 into Newport. both are good 2 lane roads. Drove Mt-200 last year into Deer Park, where there is a first class RV PK. I will be leaving Grizzly RV PK on June 25 and will take 287/359 to I-90.and after a stop in St. Regis will take MT-200 into Spokane no passes and an easy drive, I'll take US-2 to Levanworth WA and then on to Seattle on US-2. BE SAFE...John
