Tell your story why you went from FORD to CUMMINS or GM ? No personal bashing, just personal opinions and facts that can be backed up. Or reasons why a 6.0 or 6.4 Ford owner should switch, opinions and facts no bashing!

One good reason to swap is when the Ford warranty is gone and you have a head gasket fail you will be paying to have the cab removed just to do the job. Factual reason to swap.

HAD a 2006 6.0. Purchased the extended warranty when I got the truck. I must say that Ford stands behind their warranty, because I used the heck out of it. Some of the work done under warranty:

Broken exhaust Y-pipe
Blown out brake proportioning valve
Water in Fuel sensor corroded
Failure in some high pressure oil gizmo (blew oil out of the engine)
Hubs failing to disengage after using 4x4 (3 times)
Ball joints (2)
Drain tubes from sunroof were installed incorrectly (twisted) which caused them to clog up and water leaked into the interior
Oil leaking from the bedplate
..and at 97,000 miles, the oil cooler clogged up enough to cause coolant to puke out of the degas bottle and finally cause head gasket failure.

So I was glad I spent the $$$ for the warranty, shame I had to use it. Over $500.00 out of my pocket for the deductable. $50.00 each time it was in the shop.

I prefer to have a truck where I don't have to find out how good their warranty is.

No bashing, just the facts for my (former) pick-up.

Ford has fixed most of the problems with their trucks, so long as you avoid their un-proven engines. The current 5.0 is an evolution of the proven 4.6, so that's the only one we dare trust for now.
Most of the reasons against Ford are now history. My only remaining problem is that Ford is trying to do everything biggest. Cab size, half ton axle, half ton ratings, grille size, tire sizes. Biggest is not best, it is worst. More weight, more drag, et cetera. The result is that the F250 is just a SRW version of the F350, and the F150 is really a 3/4-ton, leaving Ford with no true "half-ton".

2006 F350 only vehicle that I have owned that left me on the side of the road.
Headgaskets - took the dealer three tries to get it right. Warranty
High Pressure Fuel Pump - more that a week in the shop. Warranty
And a service manager that didn't seem to care.

My 2003 F350 was a great truck. Replaced EGR at 200K 6L.

Love my Chevy D/A it is a towing monster

How is this post trolling? Seems to me its a good question to help on deciding on a TV. Isnt this forum for aquiring/giving information and making up your own mind? I too would like to know who stands behind they're warranties and what is/was covered and how common a problem is with a particular brand.

I jumped to Sam Adams Summer Ale, tastes real good and it is summer after all.
I buy what I like, if I don't like it I will switch brands. Same with trucks as beer. Buy what you like, don't sweat what someone else likes or buys, life is too short.

I bought a new Ford F-250 in 2003 with the 6.0 diesel and still have it today. It has been a good truck and I plan to keep it for a while but in 2009 when I decided to buy another tow vehicle so we could pull our boat and camper I was scared to buy another Ford because of what I read on here. I had never owned a Dodge but I wanted to try the Cummins so I went with that. It has been awesome and my wife now drives it everyday. In 2014 I plan on buying another new truck and I plan on going with a GMC dually with the Duramax. I guess you can tell I am not a brand loyal nut like some on here because until one of the big three pay me to drive their truck I will mix it up. Today I really don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
