I would ask about overnight stops. Regardless if 8 hr stay to sleep, or 3 day stay to enjoy, I want a nice cg. So asking for personal experiences sure help.

or if unknown area, I just say 'who knows of a good overnight stop along Hwy 85 near Atlanta and you know I get great responses and am steered in a good direction for a nice cg and decent price.

And of the 8,000,000 families that own an RV of some type, no two are probably looking for the same thing in a campground.

word of mouth is far better than looking at a website

ive seem some awful cg's that have purty websites

in a way, it is related to why all of us flock to forums in the first place...to get first hand word of mouth answers/opinions/help/whatever from fellow RV'rs...often quite fast!

X2 ^ ^ ^ ^ What he said ^ ^ ^ ^ my family and I ran into a park that we planned on staying for 5 days in.... The second day we moved on to a different park. The pool hadn't been cleaned and looked as if the children were swimming in pond rain water...and the CG was in general disrepair. Top it off the neighbors were there to party, and party hard into the night. This park was shown on a purty looking website...

Word of mouth is the best source of information. If they didn't like something they are sure to tell you. But if it is just a quick overnight stay to stop, sleep and go, then I can stay most anywhere.

Busy going when and where we want
