Did you ever wonder why you don't just go ahead and buy the top of the line to begin with knowing that you'll probably end up replacing the cheaper model before long?

I did that on the pressure regulator that I bought for my travel trailer 2 times, actually 3 times counting replacing a gauge. First time I bought the Watts H560 with the steel pressure gauge. Then when that one didn't have the volume that I wanted I purchased the regular brass Watts 263A with the steel pressure gauge. Well the gauge rusted out in about a year so I purchased the oil filled stainless steel gauge to replace it. Then this year the stem rusted solid in the body of the regulator and won't move and I knew all along I should have bought the all stainless steel model to begin with.

Old habits are hard to break I guess. In order to save a few bucks I spent twice as much as I would have had I just gone ahead and purchased the most expensive one which is the one I wanted to start with.

The standard brass pressure regulators would be fine for someone that just weekends but for those like me that live in our trailer most of the time the weather gets to just about everything eventually that's not stainless or PVC.

The best price I can find any where on the Internet on the Watts SS263A Regulator is $179.00 at the RV Water Filter Store and the ones he has includes the gauge and fitting and they're already installed with sealant. The other places I looked were just out of the world in price and they didn't even include the gauges and fittings.

I did the same thing with the hitch. Wasted good money on an inferior (cheap) one first.
That almost looks like a piece of jewelry!

I will not admit how many times I have done this! Save 10 bucks now, spend 20 bucks later!

I do not understand where you installed this? All 4 towables I have purchased have in-line regulators ( I like to call them restrictors) bulit into the city water supply fill port, you can actually see them!

I don't guess I've ever seen a travel trailer with a built in water regulator. Learn something new everyday.

I install mine at the trailer park water faucet and then hook my water hose to it and then hook the other end of the water hose to my trailer.

Mine is hooked up like this except I've added a remote controlled water valve on the end of the regulator now so I can shut the water off without having to do it manually when I'm leaving the trailer for a while or at night in case I spring a leak while I'm asleep.

Dad always told me to buy the best you can afford and you'll seldom be unhappy. It's just he never told me how to afford the best. Still working on that but, yea, been there, done that.

My dad always told me: "Any problem that can be solved by money is not a problem....."if" you have the money".

Buying decisions aren't easy. Sometimes the cheaper is just as good or, saying it another way, the most expensive may not be any better. Sometimes it is. Depends on the item, how much it cost and how important it is.

My thoughts in this area:

There is nothing that can't be made a little cheaper and sold for a little less money. Just remember, the bitterness of low quality lasts long after than the sweetness of low price.

I think that about covers it.

See you out there,

I bought a Watts N55BU brass regulator over 7 years ago and have never had any problems with it. https://www.freshwatersystems.com/p-6508........bu-pressure-regulator-34-fnpt-union.aspx

I purchased it from a local Plumbing Supply Warehouse and do not recall the price, but you can find them at Menards, Home Depot, Lowe's etc. I have a separate pressure gauge that I use to determine water pressureif needed, before I install the regulator.

Before I purchased our MH I had two Avion TT's that bought came with a similar regulator built in.
