I am considering getting out of my 98' Coleman Sunridge pop-up and stepping up to a travel trailer.
I have a family of six. Oldest is 15, youngest is 2.5. We also have two Chocolate Labs that go with us as well.
I have been looking all over Craigslist at different models and floor plans. Ideally I would prefer a front queen and rear quad bunks. But, some of the dual bunks would work okay too since the dinette and couch offer more sleeping. I would also really like to have a dinette/Couch slide for more floor room. I have even looked at some hybrids, but the reason for the upgrade is to gain more floorspace. While the hybrid is bigger than our current pop-up its not "that" much bigger.
I have previously owned a 1991 32' Fleetwood Flair, several different pop-ups, and used my mom's 04' Coachmen Class C for a year(Complete POS BTW). Tow rig is NOT a problem as I have an 01' 7.3L Excursion with mods.
So, with that said, what brands are good quality? I have looked at the Prowler 3102BDS, and even a Gulf Stream Mako 31' that was pretty much identical to the Prowler. Both were in the $12-$14K range. I would really like to stay around $8000 though. There is a Travel Lite 30' a few hours away that is $6900. Just no clue if its a quality camper or not.
There is one more that caught my eye as well. It was a 1997 Dutchmen 31ft bunkhouse for aroudn $8500. It did have a slide as well.
One more thing to throw at you. I live in Colorado and do like to dry camp rather than sit in a campground. So, we do like to get to more remote places than the average camper. I would be curious how many of you do the same with such a large camper.

We have a 2012 Jayco 26 BH with a family of five, kiddos 8, 6 and 1. We have plenty of sleeping space but not muching living space. I love our Jayco but I have already found that we could use the extra living space. I would recommend getting a slide with whatever you deceide to get. Good luck!
Don't buy green bananas! Do the things you wish you could do, now, don’t wait on them. There just might not be a tomorrow.

Crossroads is great. They make the cruiser, zinger, slingshot, sunset trail and z1. I have the zinger and love it.
Primetime also makes good trailers. They male the lacrosse and tracer as well as a few others.
Arctic fox has a good rep on this board and so does jayco.
With your family size and wanting to boondock you really need to think about tank sizes ( fresh, grey and black).

We've had two Dutchmen and have been very pleased with them both. They are a well built trailer.

I used to have a K-Z Durango 325BH with bunk house. It had 2 bathrooms and a separate area for the bunks. It was made well for the price and I never had a problem with it. I traded it due to not needing the BH any longer. You will need a 16K hitch. I happen to have my old one for sale if you need it for a good price as I required a larger hitch for my new 5er.

I assume the hitch is for the Excursion? Or, are you referring to a 5th wheel hitch?

Good deal on the Dutchmen. I think I may go look at it. IIRC its 60 gallons of fresh water. Not the 100 gallons I would LOVE to have, but it will do for 3-4 days.
