My other brothers Dodge Cummins Diesel 6.5 liter 24 valve truck has had overheating issues several times and has had to change sensors more times than I can remember. He replaced the thermostat twice, new radiator ,new water pump and new fan clutch. He is on his third trans and the body shop can't keep up with the rust. He has replaced the exhaust system twice and now his rear is making strange noises.
If you think you can just buy a diesel, run the heck out of it with no problems then lot's of luck...
Sorry - but that is just what I have done - I have an 06 5.9 with a Manual tranny. I have not put any fuel additives (Ford ??) at all in it and have had zero problems. (by the way transmission problems are not engine problems.)

Wait, wait, wait............I see a trend here. The Dodge and the GM owners have said they have very little problems from their diesel engines and the.........aaaaaaaaaa....... other make/(s) ..........wellllllll.........hmmmmmm.........but I do see a trend here! Funny thing is it's the same trend I see on the diesel boards and the same trend I see in resale value of pickups. Weird how things work out like that!
Ya, ya, ya, you got me Rick, I do have the infamous steering clunk. But it will be taken care of under warranty next week by my dealer along with my weeping EOC hoses.
As far as I know I don't think they will have to pull the cab to fix either. Oops, sorry, wrong brand.

My brothers Duramax had injector issues from day 1. He also had problems with the fuel cooler and had to replace that. He also had a bad head gasket. Now he is having a surging boost issue.

My Land Cruiser has needed exactly 1 02 sensor and a tail light bulb in 10 year/111k miles but you won't catch me talking about it for fear of a jinx.
OH NO!! Too late! What have I done?
Going to be really mad at you guys if something breaks now...
LOL
LOL - I was going to comment on my positive experience with Duramax & Cummins, but I'm about to hit the road in a few days and don't want to Jinx it...
