Has anyone here found or used a dispersed camp site above McCall, ID, along the Warren Wagon Rd close to Burgdorf Hot Springs? Need enough room for 3-4 rigs, dry camp, easy access for up to 38' rig. The local forest shows a Burgdorf C.G. but at last check it was closed. Don't know if it will open by July 6th when we would like to be there. Sent an email to the forest asking, and have received no reply todate. Closest we've seen listed is a dispersed area at the north end of Little Payette Lake, but that is real popular this time of year and if possible, would like to find something a little further up the road. Thanks in advance.
There are several campgrounds within a couple miles of Burgdorf and they will be open before the 4th of July weekend, as the snow pack was not bad this year. Also, there is some dispersed camping north of the hot springs, on the east side of the road, several with lots of room, but usually have summer homesteaders in them. Between the campgrounds and the dispersed camping, you will have no problem with a space. Last year on the 4th of July weekend, there were less than 20 rigs in the area, but that was because of a late opening and cold weather from the snow pack. We had on snow suits, coming in from Riggins in our Rzr, because of the temp......good luck.
A young family bought the hot springs two years ago and there are some major changes to the rules and area. We quit going because of the rules the old-timer had, but with the new couple, it is an enjoyable experience again....

Did you drive the rzr in from Riggins, or stage on the turnoff out there. We thought about 1 day riding over to have lunch there, but weren't sure about how legal it was to do the short stretch in to town. We have found about 3 potential camp spots, so things are looking up.
Not legal to drive down 395, but it is done all the time. They don't have to put up with Vic(Victoria) of the ISP, like we do in Cascade. Yes we drove over from Riggins and we actually started at the Ranger/Visitors Center on 395, south of the intersection. We have ridden 395 from the fish hatchery road on the south, to the park in the center of Riggins. If we were home this summer, we would meet you in Burgdorf and ride with you to have lunch. Have a good time, there is some awesome ridding in that area.
