We have a small rat terrier that is a year old and loves us as much as we love her.
We put her on a leash/tie out when we have camp set, and she does well with that, but her mobility is somewhat limited.
So I am thinking, that I could tie a cable from one end of our canopy to the other end, thus making a dog run so she could run from one end of the trailer to the other.
Shouldn't be too hard to do and would allow her access from one end to the other, and the lead probably would not get too tangled up. Allow her about 6 foot of lead and I believe she would do just fine.
Just a suggestion for anyone who is thinking of something to give their 4 legged child a little more play room.
We have 2 cats that travel with us. We bought a screen room for the awning and a mat for the flooring. It totally encloses the screen room. We set a small table next to the window in the living area of the RV. The cats can go in and out as much as they want ---- in cold weather my arm gives out, so they can't go out as much. They love it! and so do we!

Many CG's don't allow you to tie your dog outside the camper and 'many' states have passed rules about tethering. Just something to be aware of. I have been a 2 CG's so far where peta nuts have come in and reported the dogs tied out on leads.
IMHO ~ Ex-pens are the only way to go when RV'ing with dogs. They get to be outside in a safe confinement and you don't have to worry about other dogs and kids! The are lightweight, fold up flat and affix nicely on an RV ladder for transport. I carry 4 ex-pens attached to a bike rack.

How do you keep them from sneaking under the walls where they meet the floor? That was a problem with out fist smaller screen room. We ended up buying a Gander Mountain screen room with a floor to make sure the little escape artists don't take off on a walk-about.
Just wanted to clarify something about my post. If we did do the leash, it would only be while we were outside with her. She would not be leashed at any time when we were not with her. I currently have a small cable that I tie to a picnic table and she has some freedom when we are outside. As was stated, most parks do not allow the dog to be tethered when the owners are not present. The leash run, would just allow her a little more freedom while we are with her.

This works great with one dog - not so great with 3.....LOL!! We try to exercise our 3 by walking them - then tying on short cables so they can just lounge around under the canopy. They STILL manage to create a "maypole effect" of their tieouts in short order - yeesh!
I'd LOVE some busybody to come along and tell me I was cruel to "tie" my dogs. ;-)
