I guess it was because allot folks complained that they didn't want email notifications. Personnaly I don't like email notifications, but like to subscribe so I can keep track of the post I have commented to. If I got and email for every post my mail box would be full in no time. That that generator/coffee post - over 100 emails would have been sent to me. JM2Cents Bill

When I made this post, I just started to type and click on "Post Message".
If I want to quote another message, I click on "Quote" and start typing.
I do not have to subscribe for this message to post.
If I start a new post, My own post about whatever I want to post about, I do not have to subcribe to it.
I hope I understood you question correctly.
I agree with Polishnurse.

Maybe so - but the reason for my question was that I thught once you made your selections about want you wanted that it would automatically stay that way until and unless you changed it.

It lets you decide for every post. Some you want to keep following. Some you want to comment on and don't care to hear the other comments. Just a choice.

That makes sense to me - thanks.
It is a different system from what some of the other forums I belong to.

How to you have the Topic Subscriptions option set on your preferences page? The default is "Do not subscribe." There are two other options:
Subscribe, no email notifications
Subscribe, send email notifications.

I have it set on "Subscribe, send Email notifications" But It doesn't always stay on that option.
Some one else said you have to select your option after each message and that is what I will do.
Thanks
