I know little about it in dogs, but I do know that skin reactions to antibiotics can be severe in humans. Glad to hear he's feeling better.

If it's going to be a longer term thing, there are a couple of holistic things you could try to help dial things down.

Dog's can be allergic to Cephalosporins. The most common reaction is gastric upset (loss of appetite and/or vomiting, diarrhea), but they can have a full blown urticaria (hives). Good idea not to use these in him again, we have so many other choices it's just not worth the risk.

rockhillmanor, are you sure that's all you want to say lol!!

I just bought Benadryl yesterday at Walmart. Our Pom had to take it before getting her shots because it keeps her from getting swollen. Our vet actually has changed how he administers them and the last time she was fine with no Benadryl. I buy the liquid. Dh has had allergic reactions to aspirin and I like to have it on hand, works right away.

So how much benadryl for dogs should be given? It should be appropriate to your dog’s weight and should be given orally 3 times a day. Depending on your dog’s allergic condition, benadryl dosage can be given in two ways:

Administer 1mg benadryl per pound.
30 pounds: 10mg, 30-50 pounds: 25mg, 50 pounds: 50mg
