In my another post, recently, I was asking for help with setting solar system , thanks all who answered/helped ,
I am still in process of up grating , and expenses are going really high .
Weather changed, where I am , and I am in Mexico Oaxaca .
It is very cloudy every day and is raining .
One of technicians working on my solar system tried to measure
output from my converter when connected to "regular electricity",
and nothing, zero .
Technician said he does not know anything about it .
Solar controller is showing low charge, I am desperate, know almost nothing about all these things .
Who I suppose to hire, electrician ? car electrician ?
Can controller to be fixed ?
Should I replace controller with charger ?
I am having very expensive for me gel deep cycle batteries.
What kind of stores can have converter or charger which I need , if I need new ?
What eventually electrician suppose to check ?
My generator also is not connected , because was repaired, starter was
not working , should generator be connected to converter ?
again who can do it ?
Please help , and again I am in Oaxaca Mexico , where to turn ?
your converter is the battery charger that works from 120v shore power or from the generator, it has nothing to do with solar
yes the solar controller and the original converter both connect directly to the batteries
they both but out DC power for battery charging
what is regular electricity,
do you have 120v available, your USA 120 powered converter can Not be connected directly to Mexico 220v power
if you have rainy weather then the solar can't do much
your solar controller is probably fine, but it has sun power to work with
you need the generator running
in a pinch a regular battery charger that makes 12v can be used to charge the batteries
either a 120v USA model from generator power or a Mexico 220v model plugged into their power
as long as it is 12v for car batteries, the bigger the better at least 10amps and bigger will be better like 20 amps , just try not to use much power while you are charging
Options, always have options, and the journey goes much smoother ....

In a pinch get a portable battery charger that is designed to charge the gel batteries.
10a to 40a should be fine.
Otherwise you may need to post the make and model of your converter and get help finding a place that will ship to you. Some converters have a couple main fuses to check...
If you have the money get the Cargador Trucharger 40 12V. It has a setting for GEL batteries. It has a charge rate of 40 amps which should cut down on generator run time. I would prefer to see a higher amp charger but you really need something that is GEL battery friendly. If you can afford the 20 amp version, then that will be fine too except charging the batteries will take much longer.
a black & Decker 'Vector' model either 30amp or 40amp
example model # vector 1093DBD
these are smart chargers with settings for wet cell, AGM, and gel
understand you have to push the buttons and pick the mode and charge rate 4amp, 10amp etc..
they will default to 4 amp gel cell mode if power is interuppted /disconnected
very handy to have around, but check the main battery fuse/fuses at the converter and battery before spending extra money
approximately $100 from Amazon, will cost more from someplace else
but for full time living there is no substitute for a good converter, but you don't need to spend $500 to get a good smart charge converter

Mexico doesn't have 220 power. it is standard 110 volt like the rest of North America.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but rather by the moments that take our breath away.
I think you would do fine with the 10 amp charger for a little less money.
Speed is not that important since you have 110v utility power.
Use the gel setting.
