When using fresh water pump, it recently started running on continuously, with high rpm sound after shutting off water at all water faucets. I triple checked hot and cold water low drain valves to be fully closed. Looked for any leaks around the pump and what I can see of the plastic water lines and fittings. Ran all faucets to release all air in lines. Hooked up city water and ran all faucets,no problem, disconnected. Tried pump again and it still runs on, high pitched sound, different than when a faucet is open and pumping water. Pump is an after-market higher-powered upgrade Aquajet with no accumulator tank. Has worked fine with short run-on then normally stopping normally after closing faucet. Rig has an external shower feature. Bought new in 2004 Fleetwood Tioga 26Q, has been inactive, getting ready to resume camping/touring.

All ideas welcome.

How much water do you have I the hot water heater tank? I suspect it was trying to fill it. Connect to city water, fill the hw heater tank and all the lines. Then fill the fresh water tank and try again.

Mine will not shut off after I have it hooked up to city water until I drain it a bit.

I checked the city water inlet/backflow preventer, it holds pump pressure OK.
Donn, How should I fill the hot water tank?

turn the pump on and it should do it automatically in a few minutes. Most RV's have a 6 gallon HWH. You might have to crack a hot water faucet to clear out any air. If it runs more than 5 minutes, I suspect there is another issue. usually when you are sanitizing your tanks at home with a city water supply, the tank will fill and you won't notice this any more during the season.

Are you sure there are no leaks? I filled up once on the way out the driveway. When I got to the campground, I turned on the pump and faucet and got no water...looked at the tank and it was empty!! I discovered that the little filter inlet on the pump had a crack and all 25 gallons had seeped out!!

Good Luck!

Personally I find it much faster to simply connect to city water, turn on the HW faucets and let the air out. Usually takes a couple of minutes to get the tank full. Longer with the pump as the flow is a lot less. Of course you do have to be sure that the winterize bypass valves are all in the correct position otherwise your pump will only suck air.

When you are connected to city water source (on) does pump continue to run?

If Yes then it is probably the pump pressure switch....stuck closed.

The pump runs on whether connected to city water or disconnected. This is an after market Aquajet 5.3 gpm unit. The troubleshooting guide says that pressure switch controller may be malfunctioning, (P/N 26-158-01 with fuse). I checked the fuse, it's ok. So it might be the switch controller. I'll give Acquajet a call.

If you're hooked to city water, why would you even have the pump turned on? It's not needed when on city water.

Because OP's pump will not shut off.......with city water on, pump would shut down if city water pressure higher than pump if it is working right..........just a test.
