I just put a set of Maxxis on this past Sat. Dealer had to order them. He said when they came in his whole crew were amazed at how much more they weigh than the same tire they sell. He said for the difference in money they are thinking of switching what they sell.

My old ones were 8 years old. Still had plenty of tread; but were strting to have cracks. They were Maxxis also.

Only way to go in my book.

Another interesting thing I noticed was that they don't have the big dimples in the sidewalls that the china bombs have. Read someplace that while these are not a sign of impending failure, they are a sign of poor assembly quality.

I put a set of E-range Carlisles on my Komfort this year. I wanted the Maxxis, but didn't have time to wait for Discount to get them in from the warehouse. After expressing a lot of reservations about these, several of the employees at DT (and who I've done business with for years) all said that they were using these newly-engineered tires and were liking them. They were specifically designed, according to DT, for the desert heat and have a 106 mph speed rating. I know I'm gambling on these and will watch them like a hawk. I also keep them covered and on boards when in storage and plan on getting some 303 Protectant to treat them with.

Actually there are several threads about wheels leaking due to overpressure, but you all can exceed whatever specs you wish. Me, I do not exceed any specs I know about.

Discount Tire has ordered Maxxis for me with no issues.

Personally I do not use China bombs, too many blowout stories.

My dealer Kal-tire did not carry maxxis when I went in, they used to have them, but now they had carlisle and installed them last year, used for a two week trip only last summer.
No problems.

Do yourself a favor - use the search feature here in the upper left corner.

Enter the brand/s that you are considering - or have been suggested.

Keywords such as: Maxxis, Carlisle, Goodyear, Goodyear Marathons, Chinese Tires, Tires, etc.

Select the applicable posts for tire choices - read, then *you* decide.

BTW - do the same (search) using "Advanced" for posts over a year old.

A clear "picture" should emerge!.

Some time ago I did a search on Maxxis tires to see where they are made. No luck.
So does anybody know for sure where they are made?

I bought my Goodyear Marathons at Discount here in Grand Rapids Mi. They had them in stock,I know they can order them for you, if they don't have in stock.

Taiwan. I put MAXXIS ST 225 75 R15 LRE on mine ealier this year and everything seems to be better, tires run cooler, trailer dosn't bounce or sway as much.

Sorry, but this is misinformation. The "dimples" in the sidewall are a result of the manufacturing of the tire. It is not an indication of impending failure or poor assembly.
It happens in many tires, not just ST tires, even the Michelin on my TV.

The dimples are found on radial tires.
