Looks like if I leave th tail gate in place it wld abt 2" shyof the main waste gate.

When I put it on earlier, i had taken the tail gate off.

Any support it offers is negligible. A camper intended to overhang the bed doesn't need support in that area anyway. You'll be subjecting the paint on the tailgate to whatever gets kicked up from the road while driving. And, it's several pounds you don't really need to be carrying.

heck my tailgate is in storage. TC on, tailgate off. why add more pounds behind the axel? the TC doesn't need it for support.

Leave the tailgate off.
