Does PDANet work on a 64bit Windows 7 machine. I have an older Palm cell phone and the combination does not seem to work on my new laptop. Worked just fine on XP.

I'm using Home Windows 7 with PDAnet with positive results. I didn't do anything different to get it to work, just a normal installation.
Actually I'm using a Mac with the HD partitioned so I run PDAnet in both Windows and Mac OS.

Just a guess. It may depend upon which version of Windows 7 that you are using. Professional has more compatibility with XP software than Home Premium. I had to got to it for some of my XP software.

The problem is not with pdanet - it is with the old Palm OS. It will not work with Windows 7 54 bit connected by USB. It will work - if you are lucky - with a Bluetooth connection to Win 7. We both use Palm Centros - my wife uses hers extensively and we had to install the Palm onto XP mode on her Win 7 computer to get it to sync with USB. Palm went out of business before Windows 7 and HP who took over Palm and has basically mostly abandoned it - and abandoned the original Palm OS all together, has made no updates to allow the old Palm OS to be compatible with Windows 7. As I say, it can work with a Bluetooth connection to the Win 7 PC to sync. I am not sure about doing that with pdanet. I have had mixed results syncing my Palm OS to my Win 7 computer by Bluetooth.

It is possible that it might work with Win 7 running 32 bit - but to do that you must reinstall Win 7 and force a 32 bit installation.

Tanks 1775, that all makes sense to me. I still have the old XP laptop so either I'll carry two laptops in the rig or upgrade the phone.

Which then brings me to another question (hopefully not a new thread.) If I do upgrade phones do I need to repurchase PDANet or is my activation code good for the new phone?

I kept my original email from June Fabrics containing the registration code...

I've since switched laptops and phones, and the code works fine...
