I would recommend coming into Alcoa from Knoxville on Interstate 140 (Pellisippi Pkwy). Get of on Hwy 129 toward the airport. About 3 miles past the airport take the left split toward Townsend and the Great Smoky Mtns. This should be 321N. Stay on that through Townsend to Wears Valley and on toward Pigeon Forge. You can look for directions, off of 321, in Pigeon Forge, to Little Valley Rd. This will keep you out of the traffic in Sevierville and Pigeon forge. I live in Maryville and you will be coming about 5 miles from my house on 321 out of Maryville. have a great trip!

My neighbor above nailed it.. It may appear and actually be mileage wise a bit longer BUT you will not sit in the Rt66 traffic off of I40's exit #407. Summertime at the wrong time can be tourist gridlock of of exit 407.

Is this an RV trip for you? I'm not aware of any campgrounds back there unless you found a hidden gem.
