samsontdog wrote: Have you thought of the campers that would be camped next to you? Some of those birds make as much noise as a generator. We used to go to a private camp ground
and two separate campers had squawking birds. We would set up camp and a day or so later they would show up and set up camp next to us. Did not matter where we set up they would set up next to us. I grew to hate those birds and the owners !! I sold my membership just to get away from them
Those are normally big birds.... I have 3 I would never take. 2 Macaws and a Cockatoo....very noisy. Cockatiel's are not very loud. My Caique wolf whistles a little and can say Hi. Not noisy at all

I think a lot of people travel with their birds… one lady had at least 2 of them and they were loud and it wasn’t a pleasant loud either and it carried far…
Things like that don’t bother me to much and I doubt anyone said anything to them, but it was a topic I heard being discussed by a lot of others…
Still they didn’t do it often and I don’t think it was much of a reason not to bring them…
Much more troublesome were the peacocks roaming the area that would peck on my door at 4AM wanting breakfast, and if they were ignored they let you know they were not at all happy…
One time a caged bird was on a table under the awning and the people inside preparing lunch… they heard the table move, went out to investigate and there was a big gator under their awning fixin to do lunch to…

We had a guest bring two parrots one time. Those stupid birds made more noise than any dog could possibly make. They knew some of the finest 4 letter words and weren't afraid to use them in public. We have made our parks decidedly bird unfriendly. Your buzzards are welcome to stay inside your rig, but perched outside they are considered available to be the guest of honor at a chicken dinner.

I have to ditto the big birds. I listened to screaming for about 4 hours in a CG and couldn't take it anymore and set out to find out. One isle over was a camper with 4 macaws set outside their RV, that all they did was screech and the owners just sat inside their camper.

I hate rap music but I think I could find some good use for it in a few cases like this.

Just our two budgies but then only on short/local trips. They ride in the car in their cage with us; they are in their cage most of the time in the TT.

I had the misfortune to being 4 sites from a camper with a bird last week. Why on earth anyone would think that other campers would like their squaking pets as much as they do is beyond me. That idiot bird owner has soured me to pets forever. Isn't it enough we are subjected to folks with multiple (one had 6)dogs already. Whats next? Pigs, giant tropical snakes, baboons and monkeys? Most folks who bring a dog with them only have 1 and I can tolerate that if it is well behaved but it is getting ridiculous. There are limits to reasonable accomodation. JMO

We used to have a neighbor that lived a street over from us which was not all that close but it was still close enough I could hear his dogs barking continuously all night long every night if things were real quiet in our house or if I went outside. I don't know how the people that lived next door to him could tolerate that noise? Are people not able to hear their own dogs barking? It's amazing to me that they don't have any consideration for other people.

I think, just like having crying babies, they get used to it and tune it out. That is why I would never bring my big birds, they are way to loud, but I do not hear it.
My dogs, I train to a code word...."excuse me" and they will sit, shut up, lay down and do whatever I want because they know they screwed up. You can control bad behavior.
It is sad because it is the person, who is the problem, not the animals.....and they give all the good owners bad names.

We've seen all sorts of pet birds while camping. One Class A moho had at least 2 and maybe a 3rd parrots in cages near the front window. We camped next to a rig while in Utah that had a parrot.
This spring we watched a couple with 2 dogs & a baby stroller walk toward us. The man stopped and asked if we had extra doggy bags since they'd left their cap without theirs. I was happy to donate a couple! As I gave them to him, I noticed the stroller didn't have a 2 legged kid in it. There was a 2 winged kid instead in a cage being pushed along. LOL! They said it was their 2nd parrot and was a rescue and that this was it's first time out. He was latched onto each side of the cage with a death grip but they said he was beginning to relax. None of the birds we saw were noisey but I know they can be and would be extremely irritating if I had to listen to them.
Birds are highly intelligent and social and suddenly leaving them alone for several days/nights could really upset them so certainly try to take yours. You might try a trial run in your driveway to see it's reaction and get it used to the different accommodations.
Good luck!
