You would be better off getting starting batterys for the cummings. Marine batterys are a hybrid capable of providing enough starting amps for a boat motor but also have some steady draw capacity for electronics or a trolling motor or something like that.
Many people, including myself use marine for the RV house battery because of price and not requiring the ampacity of a true deep cycle.

Okay, I'll take your advice. What's your opinion of the Optima that Wolfe10 describes ?

Hi,

Go with the biggest meanest batteries that will fit the available space. But first figure out why the existing batteries are being drained. Or add some disconnect switches.

Then why didn't ford put one in your truck? Why use a marine battery to start a diesel engine? Why pay more for less performance? A marine battery will not have as much CCA as a starting battery his size.

Hi 2112,

My Marine battery has over 250 more cranking amps than the OEM starting battery that came with the RV. Size does matter. Put in the largest batteries that will fit the available space.

Guy's, zxer just wants to start his rig.
OEM batteries are the cheapest batteries found on earth. They are to get you off the lot.

Buying name brand doesn't guarantee quality. Auto batteries for the most part are all the same. There are only a few manufactures making all of them.

How much more would an Optima provide for the price difference? He doesn't need a $250 AGM super cell to start his truck.

Marine batteries have a longer recharge rate as well. Why put that in your car or truck?

I like the idea of getting the largest battery that will fit the space.
X2 of course.
