Going from San Antonio to Houston. Anyone have a suggestion on a nice place to stay? Big rig maybe pull thru but don't really care as we will unhook for the stay. Probably stay 4-7 days.
Also any thing we should visit other than Johnson Space Center? This we will do but not sure what other kinds of cool things there is to do there.
Any easy way of getting around the toll roads. Never really been on them coming from the west coast so would like to avoid them. Not sure why really.

thanks

The toll roads will be a little expensive but they will keep you out of the worst of the Houston traffic.

Closer to Nasa is Space Center RV Park in League City, TX. It's on I-45, the Gulf Freeway, south of Nasa by just a little and on the way to Galveston.

Galveston has a lot to do as well - the Strand Historic District, Bishops Palace, Ashton Villa, Moody Gardens, Lone Star Flight Museum, Schlitterbahn (if you're into water parks), and the brand new Pleasure Pier

We may stay in Galveston also. This is our first trip where very little is planned. Gonna be out for at least 3 months so there is no hurry to get anywhere.
Again we don't have a problem with toll roads just never used them. Guess we should get used to them as there seems to be lots of them.

http://www.jbrv.net/ - nice rv park.

You can get to Galveston without going to Houston proper. It is only 30 miles or so up 45 from Galveston to Space Center and malls & Kemah Boardwalk.

If your travels should take you north out of Houston on I-45 up to Conroe, the KOA to the west on route 105 is real nice. It's 13 miles over by Lake Conroe -- though not on the lake. Sites are well spaced with lots of lush green grass. Manicured is my word for such a place. And quiet.

Right on I10, before you get to Katy,Tx, you will find "Houston West" RV park. Right off interstate, pretty nice, nice folks, and not too far to Houston. If you want the State Park scene, Sam Austin SP is pretty nice. Nice golf Course, etc.

There is no state park in Texas by the name of Sam Austin. You must be refering to Stephen F. Austin State Park in San Felipe, but it is a good bit west of Houston.
