My question is directed to Consumer Cellular and Tracphone subscribers. We're thinking about moving to one of the no-contract cell plans. We've done the research on their plans and have an idea of which suits us. However, when we got to the point of phone selection we were surprised to find terrible reviews of all of the texting type phones offered. Hard to believe that these companies would continue to be so popular if their phones really are awful. Anyhow, looking for input from current users on the quality of their CC or TF phones. Thanks.

By disposable, do you mean that the phones didn't meet your needs and you discontinued the service? I also realize there are trade offs when moving out of the full service carrier space. Here's our deal. We have a MiFi, laptop and two iPads for data. For voice, we have a couple of basic feature phones, both of which have keyboards. My wife does some texting (< 200 per month) and I hardly do any. Our phone calls are less than 300 minutes per month.
I was thinking we could keep the Verizon for our data and get something like CC for voice and texting. Actually, my wife would continue to use the phone for texting and I would just use my iPad. Anyhow, that what prompts my question. Thanks.

Do you believe everything you read or hear even on the internet??? Ha Ha! as I said we know many that are extremely pleased with them and have had them for years with Minimum difficulities
Right now on Tracfone they have the Touch screen LG800G with Triple Minutes for Life, for $49.99 Free shipping.
Check the plans for minutes. For about $100, you can have a years service with 1600 minutes. If or when you need more minutes, just buy what you need.
I have had this same phone for about 6 months, it certainly has texting capability however I don't use it.
You can port your current number.
BTW, there are 18 Million Tracfone users, the largest prepaid provider in the US serving 99% of the US population.

Assuming the phone you currently have is a Verizon phone and not under contract, check out the Page Plus Cellular pre-paid plans. They have many plans to choose from. They use Verizon towers, so you have great coverage and if you already have a Verizon phone that is not under contract, you can use your existing phone (and keep your existing number) on their plans. I've used them for several years and am very satisfied.
