"J.D. Power and Associates' 2012 Initial Quality Study was released Wednesday, and the big winners that sell pickup trucks, all finishing above the industry average of 102 problems reported per 100 vehicles, were Chevrolet (100), Ram (99), Nissan (99), GMC (99), Toyota (88) and Honda (83). The only other pickup truck makers, finishing well below the industry average, were Suzuki (115) and Ford (118).
J.D. Power’s ratings are determined by the number of problems reported per 100 vehicles. The lower the score, the better the rating. The group polled 74,000 original owners of model-year 2012 vehicles and recorded problems they've experienced over 90 days of ownership."

That's actually so LUDICROUS that it borders on J.D. Powerstupidity!
The #2 rated by J.D. Powers Nissan Pickup truck is built on the SAME assembly line as the Suzuki Equator Pickup truck that they rate #115!!
Same folks building it with the same parts, same engines, same driveline..but the Suzuki has a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty!
That alone invalidates all of the Pickup Truck J.D.Powers Ratings for 2012 Trucks.
The U.S. World and News Report "Compact Pickup Trucks 2012" rated the Suzuki #4 "based on our analysis of 28 published reviews and test drives of the Suzuki Equator, and our analysis of reliability and safety data." And Nissan was #1.
And by the way, U.S World and News Reports 2012 Ford F-150 and 2012 Ford Super Dutys each ranked #1 each "our analysis of 26 published reviews and test drives of the Ford Super Duty, and our analysis of reliability and safety data."
And Ford F-series has been and is the #1 selling pickup truck for 33 years in a row. That speaks volumes. People tend to vote with their wallets!
Don't you just love ratings and statistics!
IT DOESN'T TAKE AN EINSTEIN!

My posts shouldn't be taken for factual data. They are purely fictional, for entertainment purposes and should not be constituted as actually related to scientific, technical, engineering, legal, spiritual or practical advice. Amen.

People tend to vote for what the tv tells them to vote for, not their own brains. Hence Fords false claim at being the #1 selling pickup. GM pickups outsell Ford every year.

In an attempt to make themselves relevant, J D Powers changed there methods recently.
ALL new vehicles were having so few issues (YES the quality is getting quite good on them all)they were having trouble ranking as many were not able to report any issues in the first 9 months or 90 days, whatever they were surveying.
So now they ask about satisfaction with operation of the numerous in-car electronic devices such as touchscreens, nav systems, etc.
Now they get negativity by folks who can't figure out how to work this stuff so they slam the vehicle and ratings go down.
Unreliable vehicle OR uninteligent electronics operator?
Makes for some crazy ratings that really have nothing to do with reliability.
IMHO the rankings have become about as useless as C R ratings...
check your facts ford lover. Gm trucks nudge out ford trucks sales many times over that 33 years. GMC and CHEVY are GM trucks and they combined usually outsell ford. Just wait until the new trucks and engines come out there numbers are sure to go up.
My check engine light came on again. Passenger side rear O2 sensor again. Does that mean two problems or the same problem twice? All in all, they aren't too far apart. I thought the Tundra would be 0 problems per 100 trucks. They're really slipping from their hype. Honda, ah, who cares.
