I have always used MSN as a Internet provider so I have quite a collection of "favorites" saved but they appear to be stored on MSN and just listed on my laptop (windows 7)
I would like to transfer these to my IPhone (4S) and use Google for my search engine. Any assistance would greatly appreciated.
End result would be to keep all my favorites on my phone, and discontinue my MSN subscription.
We use AT&T 3G to go online and teather the phone to the laptop.
Thanks,Mike

Regardless of which ISP you have, your favorites should be stored with your browser, probably Internet Explorer. You can export these but I'm not sure how you would transfer them to an iPhone. You might consider an online service like this one to store your bookmarks and access them from any browser.
Disclaimer: I've never used this service but I'm sure others have used something similar and will chime in with their experience.

as it turns out, using MSN for a provider means you are using Microsoft Explorer, not IE.
here is PART of the procedure we had to finally use:
a. Go to the Start | Programs | Accessories menu and open the Command Prompt window.
b. Make sure you are in the root folder (c:\), otherwise, execute the following command: cd \.
c. Enter the following command:
c:\>attrib /s favorites.xml
If this file exists on your disk, attrib will find it and tell you where it is.
3. Once located, copy favorites.xml to the folder where mnsfav.vbs resides (e.g. c:\msnfav).
4. Execute the script:
Either double-click msnfav.vbs in Windows Explorer
OR
run the following command in a console (DOS) window after making the directory where msnfav.vbs resides the current directory:
c:\>cd msnfav
c:\msnfav>cscript msnfav.vbs
5. This should have produced a file named bookmark.htm in the same folder.
6 Launch IE, go to "File | Import and export...", click Next, select "Import favorites", click Next, select "Import from a file or address" and select the bookmark.htm file that you have just generated, click Next and select the target folder (usually Favorites), click Next and Finish.
7. You're done.
8. Sometimes, the script executed in step 2 may fail. There are two known reasons that can cause the script to fail.
8.1. Your copy of MSXML is not up-to-date. Please go to
and download and install either Microsoft XML Parser 3.0 SP4 or preferably Microsoft XML Core Services SP2 (msxml.msi).
what a load of cr@# to go through!
thanks for everyone trying to help,

i forgot to clarify (so relieved to get this done!!!) that after i found the (HIDDEN) favorates file, downloaded a program to convert it to HTML,got the (HIDDEN!) file converted, transfered that converted file to IE, THEN I was able to use the Cloud to transfer the file from my laptop to my iPhone. did I mention the file was HIDDEN? it was several folders deep. wonder why MSN uses such archane codeing and HIDES this file?
my quess is they anticipate the reason to move this file is precisely why I am doing so-to cancel their service.
the NEXT hurdle is to actually get my subscription canceled.
